Today officially marks ten years since the CA:CW U.S. theatrical release! 🎉 Happy divorce-sary, Steve/Tony fandom. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we're holding a prompt fest, which kicked off on April 12 and is currently running through July 6.
After taking submissions from you all these past few weeks, we're thrilled to share that we collected a total of 305 PROMPTS. WOW! 🤩
So what are we doing with the prompts as a fandom? Making fanworks inspired by them, of course! If you want to join the fun, here's how to participate.
General rules & guidelines
There are no sign-ups. Anyone can fill a prompt from our prompt list anytime until July 6, 11:59 PM ET (what time is that for me?).
You must be over the age of 18 to participate, however, as some prompts contain mature themes.
There is NO minimum work requirement.
There is NO limit to how many works you can create or how many prompts you can fill.
Making multiple fills for a single prompt or combining multiple prompts for a single fill is okay.
All prompts are up for grabs, so more than one person can fill a prompt.
It's up to you how much you want to follow the prompt, whether it's faithful to the prompt or only loosely related to it.
You can collaborate with a partner(s) if you'd like.
All fanworks are allowed such as but not limited to art, fanmixes, fanvids, fics and other creative writing such as poems, graphics/edits, gifsets, manips, meta, mood boards, podfics, music, rec lists, web weaving, and crafts.
As we're a multilingual, global fandom, fills can be in any language.
Fills must be new works made for the event.
Fills cannot be based on existing fanworks unless the creator has granted permission either to you specifically or in their transformative works statement. If you're unsure whether the statement covers the work or you can't find a statement, ask the creator.
No gen AI/LLM (e.g., ChatGPT) use is allowed.
Everyone has different viewpoints on CA:CW, but we're all fellow fans at the end of the day. Please be kind to other participants as we want this to be a fun event for everyone! ❤️
All fills must focus on Steve and Tony's relationship, whether it's platonic (pre-slash or gen/not shippy at all), romantic, or sexual.
All relationship permutations—gen, pre-slash, unrequited or requited love, mutual or one-sided pining, established relationship, get together/get back together, breakups, etc.—are allowed.
We welcome everything from the 100% sugary sweet to the 100% bitterly dark. All kinds of endings—unhappy, ambiguous/open, bittersweet, hopeful, or happy—are welcome.
Darkness and angst all the way through "dead dove: do not eat" and works looking at the events of CA:CW critically are welcome, but character bashing is not allowed.
Other romantic/sexual relationships featuring Steve and/or Tony (including poly) are okay ONLY IF the primary focus of the fill is on Steve and Tony AND the fill concludes in one of the following ways:
- Steve/Tony end up together (no poly)
- Steve and Tony are single at the end
- Steve and/or Tony is in a relationship with someone else at the end, BUT you make it obvious that the relationship is unhappy or doomed because of Steve's feelings for Tony/Tony's feelings for Steve
Fills must either be set in CA:CW or heavily based on CA:CW if the fill is canon-divergent, post-CA:CW, crossover, or fusion.
Guidelines on posting/sharing fills
Once you finish your fill, we encourage you to submit it to the "Steve/Tony CA:CW 10th anniversary prompt fest" AO3 collection by clicking the "Post to Collection" button on the top right corner of the collection page. Otherwise, when you post a new work, go to the "Associations" section, type "stevetonycacwpromptfest" next to "Post to Collections / Challenges," and click the collection once it appears.
You can also post the fill elsewhere in addition to or instead of AO3. Please do the following if you do, so we can share it with everyone:
- Tumblr and Bluesky: @stevetonycacwfest or tag #stevetonycacwfest
- Twitter: @stevetonycacw or tag #stevetonycacwfest
- Anywhere else: contact us (we'll make sure to share the link on our socials and include the work in our master list at the end of the prompt fest)
Please include the prompt in the summary or author's note. If you don't want to spoil the audience, you can put it in an author's note at the end of the work.
If you discover the identity of the prompter, it's up to you whether you want to gift it to them personally or not. It's not mandatory.
Crossposting to other events is allowed as long as that event permits it (e.g., @cap-ironman's bingo, @lightsonparkave).
Now that you've read everything, go check out our list of 305 prompts!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime. We look forward to seeing your fills! 💖
