Rogue slammed the library door behind her, unaware of Eli’s presence as she rested her back against it. It took her a few moments to even catch up to herself before noticing him over in a corner, presumably reading a book further away from the other people in the mansion as an escape. “Sorry, I... I just couldn’t take it anymore. All the stares, all the whispers. I don’t even think I know you more than just your name, but I’m sure you’ve heard what they’re saying about me.”

sarah glanced down at her phone, staring at the picture she’d taken of her mom’s photo album. she was staring at the face of the man who she thought was her father and she was nearly awestruck. she glanced up at the stranger, then back at her phone again.
“...what?” she said slowly, reaching out to grab his arm while never breaking eye contact.
