“Yeah. F’me too.” How many times had her brother said it was for her own good? How many times had he told her she was different and people would fear her if they knew. How many times had he told her the only place she was safe and loved was at his side? But then he’d left. And nothing had ever felt safe and warm and okay ever again.
“But I....I wan believe it. An’ sometimes it makes me wan scream. Point is. Ya got me and I got you. If ya decide for go...I’ll go wi’ ya. If ya decide stay, ya can stay here. An’ we can look out f’each oddah. Yeah?” Whatever paralysis had over taken him, and she had never been able to find the source of it, had worn off. And maybe Beth was worried that somewhere out there the reason he’s shown up covered in blood was waiting for him. She wasn’t sure if she let him leave that he’d be okay, but she wasn’t going to hold him hostage no matter how good her intentions.
