Featured Spotlight: Summer Contest Winner!

The results are in and the grand prize winner of Summer 2019 Writing Contest is Invader39 with his Chronicle short story!

Following the exploits of the village’s Chronicler, Elisis, the narrative is framed by her desire to find a story worth telling, met with the same frustration that has tested and infuriated many scribes before her: a blank page. Over the course of the story, Elisis is approached by the citizens of Bo-Koro, namely her friend Kinla and the village’s protector, Toa Anuma, who offer her different counsel as she struggles to find a sense of fulfillment in the work that she does.

Set against the familiar backdrop of a Matoran settlement deep within the jungles of Bo-Koro, Chronicle is enjoyable, rapidly-paced and adorned with a number of colorful allusions to nature. Recounting sentiments universally felt by artists and content creators, Chronicle stands as a fitting counterpoint to the prospect of writer’s block. Invader has done especially well to dramatize the real-life obstacles and distractions that impede the writing of fiction within the realms of his own storyline.
