Mechanist animations and visuals (+ slow-mo!)
Here, have some tasteful visuals of the Mechanist!
So the last Elite Spec for End of Dragons was announced today, in theory there won't be any more expansions so no more elite specs. That said I still want to eventually finish my list of Elite Spec concepts, I'm moving that higher up on my priority list, and I'll also reblog my origional concepts assuming I can find them! Hope you guys are hyped for End of Dragons, I personally can't wait to go back to Cantha!
Had one of those ‘many thoughts, head empy’ moments so here is a quick rundown of some new elite spec concepts. I’m really not an expert with game mechanics (feel free to twist around these ideas) but anyway:
The bannerbearer - this is a more support-oriented take on warrior who wields a staff. They either provide boons or some more class-specific buffs like, idk, ‘spirit banners’. Spirit banners would be shorter duration banners that, however, greatly empower allies, therefore using them would require a more coordinated party or squad.
The highwayman - this spec would unlock the mainhand (and also offhand?) pistol for rangers. Pistols would deal heavy condition damage that would allow them to pair well with traps, torches, daggers.
Alternatively, they could get a rifle, but I’m biased towards condi so I’ll just go with pistols.
Maybe the hammer is not an illusion - I have one argument for this. My mesmer is an asura. I’d love to see a ravaging little rat throw a huge ass illusionary hammer at the enemy. That’s all. That’s all I’ve got for this one.
The samurai - thives with greatsword would be great. This spec of thief would be a bit more slower but would hit harder. They could have a lot of shadowstep-like(?) abilities, like rushing toward the enemy very fast while creating a smoke field behind them, etc.
Alternatively, dual-wielding swords could be a fun option, but greatsword feels a bit more unique.
The field medic - I’d like to see a healing-oriented engineer spec. They would shoots aoes from a shortbow that heals/buffs their team and maybe weakens the enemy team. While writing, however, I kinda realized this is a bit too smilar to what scourges do, but oh well.
Mercenary - Guardians with a rifle. Again, no real reason, I just want my guardian to have a big gun.
(More realisticly though, I think a warhorn could go well with this class.)
The warlock - this could go in two directions. It either unlocks the axe for elementalists and focuses on big bursty power damage, or unlocks the torch and a skilltree which allows them to apply burning damage with a firebrand’s speed. Thing is, I’m so in love with weaver that I can’t figure out any other spec at the moment that would interest me, so I’m open to suggestions.
The plague... shooter? - unlocking either the shortbow or the longbow for necromancers, this is a spec that deals heavy single-target damage from range while gains access to more dazes and stuns.
Revenants - there are too many cool options for this class and I also know zero things about them. I love some people’s headcanons in which their revenants channel Trahearne as a legend but we know we won’t get that. Someone with a better grasp on famous heros of Tyria should definitely have better ideas then me, so I won’t speculate too much on this one.
i had this really odd dream that anet's next elite spec for ranger was called the baker, and the baker was a class that wielded a massive fork that you would spin with and while youd do no damage with the fork, you could do a ridiculous amount of knockback and smack people in to walls in pvp and wvw to kill them
three of the skills with the fork were just titled "spin", one was "rest" and the last one was "bake" which just has you take bread out your pocket to eat and regain health
as for pets, you could apparently use your massive fork to fling them in to other people like tiny dangerous canonballs
The new ranger elite specialization more like A B S O R B Y O U R P E T
All I want is for mesmers to wield main hand pistol like their phantasms. Just please.
