punishment is justice for the unjust || Lance & Will
starter for @elitekaito
No one dared to even look at him as he stormed through the League’s hallway, his face dark with fury. Lance didn’t care. He just wanted to get this out of his system before he completely snapped. His secretary paled upon seeing him rounding the corner with a look that promised physical pain if one so much as breathed in his direction. “Make absolutely sure that no one is to disturb me today. This is an order.” Was his clipped words before he disappeared into his office.
Once the door was closed behind him, Lance ripped off his cape, letting it fall to the ground. His heavy steps stopped just in front of his hardwood table, where silence lasted for a few seconds before a crash rang in the air. That was followed by a couple of books, then a vase and a cup. Pens and papers and everything small was thrown without care to the wall. The ground was quickly being filled with smashed bits and cracked pieces of what used to be his office’s decor.
Mingling with this concert of destruction was his own screams of rage. “Those fucking bastards I swear to fucking god that they’re going to fucking pay for everything--” Lance also swore up a storm, spewing his anger at what has become a thorn in his side for years.
This League was filled with all sorts of people, some of which deserved to be behind bars. Lance had been trying his best to dig up dirt on these scums but no matter how deep he went, the perpetrators remain frustratingly out of reach. It would be so easy to drag their asses to jail if he were to made the arrest but ensuring that they stay there was a whole different battle. They had caused him many sleepless nights of moral debates and personal viewpoints and-- he just fucking hated them, okay?
In latest news, apparently these bastards had managed to get their hands on a former Team Rocket members. Knowing how they operated, Lance was certain that the police won’t know about this until much later. Or ever, depending on how useful the member was. This just went into his long list of shit he knew he can’t expose until he gathered sufficient evidence because the chances of things going wrong was just too much of a risk. With his stress already at an all time high, this was just the final straw that broke the Camerupt’s back.
Lance finally stopped, merely standing in the middle of the destruction with his fists clenched. His shoulders heaved from each breath, sweat dripping down his face from the exertion of throwing anything within reach. His office looked unrecognizable but nothing valuable was broken. He only threw easily replaceable items as well as his office chair. Though, the broken pieces still made for a considerable mess that would take time to clean.
Right now, Lance didn’t care about that. Nothing else was on his mind aside from the rage that still simmered below the surface. While he felt considerably calmer (as in, he won’t be punching any faces in), the Champion was still on edge and close to another burst of unbridled anger if he kept thinking about those smarmy bastards. Still, he should probably try and find another way to release his emotions, preferably with a method that did not involve room wide destruction.
Lance took in a deep breath before exhaling it loudly. Before he could make his next move, he picked up movement just from the corner of his eyes. His head snapped to the door, where it was slightly opened. He also found a very familiar figure trying to sneak away unnoticed. An uneasy feeling mixed in with heat in his stomach. How long had he been standing there? That in itself was not what worried Lance. What exactly did he hear?
“I see you, Will. Come fucking back here,” Lance snapped, his quiet alarm causing his tone to come out harsher than intended. Once the Elite came in sight, the Champion crossed his arms, expression twisted in anger and just a tiny bit of apprehension. “I thought I’ve made it clear that I don’t want to be disturbed today. What is it that’s so important that you went against my order?” Honestly, the stress was really killing him today. While Lance could be stern with his colleagues, he wasn’t usually this... severe.
A small part of him felt guilty for treating Will like this. Still, his mind urged him to find out the extent of the damage.
“I don’t know how long you’ve been standing there but what did you hear?”
Sure thing! How about we just haul her back from Ultra Space instead! There’s quite a few new faces since she touched down in this dimension — be sure to give them all a follow!
((Cute hc meme: Lance laying on his back, slowly being enveloped by baby dragons, and then his fully-evolved adult dragons wanting to join in (which goes about as well as you can imagine lol)))
Adorable headcanons you have of my muses: still accepting!
Lance just submits himself to his fate. Goomy finds purchase on his chest. Dratini wraps around his legs. Swablu sits on his knees. Noibat in his hair and Tyrunt is nomming on his sleeve. Validus just watches from the sidelines until he decides he wants to join in. He takes up the entire right side, and wraps his arm around Lance. He just sighs with a smile and lets himself be cuddled by the warmth.
The end of their battle had ended as expected. She had remained the victor, and he ... looked a little worse for wear. Dragonite was called back immediately, barely spared a blink before she was returned to her pokeball as the dragon user marched across the battlefield to her once opponent’s box.
She rest a hand on his shoulders, heavy handed one, more as though she’d punched him instead of patting his back. “That was a good battle.” She said in return, but it seemed as though it wasn’t enough to pull the man from his stupor.
So, she’d pulled away to look at him more closely.
There was something there that she wasn’t sure she liked. He was far more somber than usual, something she’d noticed but shoved at the back of her mind earlier in the day. So, perhaps this win wasn’t the win she wanted. Fighting an opponent that cared little was not a way of growing stronger.
It was the same as picking on the weak---a wrong that needed to be righted.
Perhaps, it was a good thing she had decided to yank the boy out of the league building onto the cites he could look down to from where he was and re-immerse himself with others and recover before being set back to that mountain of theirs.
The coffee place they’d ended up staying was a very niche sort of place. In short, they were a tad snobbish in regards to the quality of the coffee and tea they served, making it a kind of place she found entertaining.
She took a seat at one of the tables for two, patting the other chair for him to take a seat. The dragon user didn’t bother waiting until after he’d sat before blurting out, “So, Will, what seems to be on your mind?”
💊 ((he will sneak that shit into his food/drink and trick him into taking it if he has to))
It was just a headache and nothing more. Lance was no stranger to the sensation of his head being squeeze by a vice. All he needed to do was pop in an aspirin and get back to work while the pain died down. This was no different. Sure, his body also felt heavy, like lead was weighing his limbs down and maybe there was the occasional cough and sneeze but really, just a headache. And tiredness. And maybe his office hadn’t been dusted in a while.
Needless to say, he was very much in denial that this was more than a simple headache.
Lance stayed in his office regardless of his body’s desire for rest. There were plenty of paperwork he needed to read through and sign or pushed aside. If he didn’t finish them now, it would simply grow until it got too much even for a guy like him. So he sat in his chair, going through each document one by one. Whenever he felt chilly, he’d wear his cape and wrap it around his body. Likewise, he’d take it off and loosen his collar when he felt too warm. Honestly, the heating in this place should get fixed.
When his throat got too itchy that he fell into a coughing fit, he would drink a few glasses of water. Lance didn’t really feel hungry so he skipped lunch, pouring all of his attention on his work. The headache and slight blurriness of his sight didn’t help matters but he could ignore them. He’d power through worse. Thinking and complaining about it just made him weak.
At some point, Will had entered the room. The Elite paused at the door before he softly asked if he wanted anything to eat. Lance had politely declined, his stomach turning slightly at the thought of food. He was then left alone for about twenty minutes before Will once again returned, this time with a bowl of soup and bread, followed by a cup of tea.
“I know you said you’re not hungry but I thought some nourishment would give you more energy to... work.” Lance didn’t notice the way he spoke that last word as if it was an insult. His focus was on the food. While he felt mildly nauseous, it might just be a sign that he needed something in his stomach after almost a day of no meals.
“Thank you,” Lance replied, tone slightly congested. He waited until after Will left the room before he turned around and blew his nose. Just some dust. Nothing to it. Now with his nose cleared, he could smell the aroma, which served to remind him of just how hungry he truly was. Lance took a careful sip, found it to be quite tasty before he slowly polished off his meal. After that, he finished off the tea, sweet with a slight bitter aftertaste and then went back to work.
About fifteen minutes later, Will checked in on Lance, knowing the sight that would greet him. The Elite made his way inside with a slight shake of his head. Honestly, Lance should rest when it was obvious just how ill he was. Approaching his boss, who was asleep at his desk -- those meds he slipped into his tea were quite strong. The drowsiness was sure to knock him out -- Will rested a hand against his forehead, merely sighing at the unsurprising heat that radiated. Seriously, how was he able to work with this high of a fever?
Xatu quietly slide up to the pair and with a bit of effort, they were teleported to Lance’s personal chambers. Will managed to get the outer layers of his clothes off before he helped the man in bed. Xatu helped by bringing in a bowl of water and a piece of cloth with her psychic. For the time being, he’ll wait for the medicine to kick in before he decide anything.
Will placed a damp cloth on his fevered forehead, watching as Lance sighed slightly in relief. He might be stubborn when it came to his well being but as an Elite, he would help his Champion to the best of his abilities.
