Do you have hcs for Erestor's background/story? Or if you're compelled by many, what are your favorites for him? 🌸

Sort of and sorry this has been sitting in my drafts for so long!

I do have a couple though:

Generally I hc him as Peredhel and usually a child of Haleth and Caranthir

He's a Ñoldo

I think he's extremely battle capable but prefers not to fight if he doesn't have to anymore.

I ship Glorestor hardcore.

I usually view him as the Loremaster/Librarian and Counsellor to Elrond. But then Elrond doesn't really have a Herald? And I generally view Lindir as a minstrel or assistant so he doesn't fit that. Maybe Elladan and Elrohir are the Heralds but I also don't think Elrond expects Imladris to continue without him since most elves are leaving Arda at this time.

On one hand, I'm like I love family Elrond and Erestor but I also kind of ship them sometimes. I just think they would fuck well together lol. Elrond deserves to have his back blown out by literally everyone. 😂

I think he's quiet, got a major resting bitch face, he's very snarky and judgmental, and always looks perfectly put together.

He really likes dripping in the jewel style of the Ñoldor but doesn't tend to wear a ton outside of events. It's a war between his family and preferences and how he still appreciates Ñoldor culture and his want to stay fairly political savvy.

He's super kinky and loves bdsm. He and Glorfindel are a great pair: he likes Glorfindel up and Glorfindel likes being tied up.

He has chronic migraines that are quite severe.

You can often find him in the baths.

He's very protective over Lindir and Elrond and generally like his people.

I often kind of view him as gender neutral.

Going to Valinor will be fascinating because I ship both Glorestor and Glorthelion and not sure Erestor would be up for poly?

I also kind of like Erestor as a child of Celebrimbor? He's not very good with his hands, but he loves being in a forge. He has dragon hoarding of people vibes.

Erestor loves his library and hot beverages.

He doesn't like winter because it reminds him of the Helcaraxë and he gets cold easily. Maybe anemic Erestor? I could really get behind this actually.

You can always find him in the Hall of Fire or by a hearth in winter listening to the minstrels (and usually doing paperwork).

His favorite season is Spring (?) might think about this.

He does love Yule - or the elvish equivalent - though. The return of warmth and light and bonfires in the cold.

For Ask Friday: I know you favor Elves above the other Middle-earth races, but who are your favorite characters among the other three races?

Favorite Man? Favorite Dwarf? Favorite Hobbit? And why? :)

I do so love my androgynous homies. Aesthetic goals 😭😭😭 My non-binary ass loves them and wants to be their aesthetic sooo bad. Male elves are gender euphoria aka very very good gender vibes for me

However, while they may be my favorite lotr race, I personally am a hobbit were I to be suddenly transmigrated to Arda. (I can hope to be an elf though, I’m so tired of being short!)

Favorite Hobbit: Samwise Gamgee

First, he is a hobbit and I don’t have Fellowship in front of me right now, but if you take the first 10 pages with It’s descriptions of hobbits and how they are, that’s me. He cooks, he’s loyal, he’s sweet, I want him to be my best friend. His capacity for love is so big. He’s acab hobbit. Love him.

Very Close Runner up: Meriadoc Brandybuck/Merry because of how much effort he puts into a) keeping his friends safe and b) into creating and protecting the historical records of Middle-Earth.

Favorite Dwarf: From what I’ve seen, I really like Disa and also Durin and Elrond’s relationship in RoP and Balin from the Hobbit! (I also ship Disa x Elrond x Durin; ot3! OT3!)

I don’t know a lot about the dwarves honestly? I’ve only seen pieces of the Hobbit and RoP for a variety of reasons (mostly ethical Amazon RoP reasons or I don’t like it reasons the Hobbit- why whyyyyyy did they have to use that godsawful cgi ughhhh).

Favorite Race of “Man”: Eowyn

She’s badass. That’s it. She’s a very well-developed, emotionally deep, complex female character in lotr. I in no way mean that as a diminishment of her character, just sometimes (oftentimes) the bar is low. But I love her (even through all her cringe, healing moments) and her loyalty and power and strength and healing.

I also reeeally enjoy Eomer, Boromir, and Faramir all for different reasons. It’s just that Eowyn always wins.

For the OC Asks:

Astalda- 100 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL - share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.

Ütírėd- RED HEART - what are three of your oc's positive traits?

I'm part one and two-ing this because I don't have a lot of thoughts about Ütírėd at this time, but I have LOTS about Astalda.

1. She gay. She is the most sapphic of sapphic elves and I love her. No one can remember how long they've been married because they seem like they've just been together since the dawn of time (they haven't; neither of them are quite that old).

2. She and her wife are very, very soft with each other. She's actually an elf of the Greenwood who moved to Lothlórien to be with her wife. Astalda isn't a huge fan of Ñoldorin or Sindarin customs, but her wife is terrified of the spiders so. She carried over her guard training under Feren and puts it to good use in the Golden Wood.

3. She and Haldir are close and have a lot of respect for each other. They share bread recipes with each other. I also hc that Haldir spent some time training in Eryn Lasgalen (and I generally hc him as at least part-Silvan) so they knew each other from Thranduil's guard and Feren's grueling training.

4. Bonus: Before the Greenwood needed more fighters, she used to be a baker. That's how she got those arms.

Do you have Lorien brothers hair color / style hcs?

Yes!

I think in the books it can be implied that Haldir has golden hair, but that's not really explicit. I personally see the Lórien bros as variant shades of golden blonde and/or silver...I'm now realizing I deviate from the movies...

My personal hcs:

I personally see Haldir and his brothers as being mostly Silvan with maybe some Sindarin and/or other Teleri and

Haldir - More of a golden/honeyed/medium blonde. I've just always envisioned him with a warmer blonde shade. He just gives me more earthy and sun-kissed but with a hint of silver vibes.

Rúmil - sandy blonde but the one with its sandy because of all his natural highlights blending together.

Orophin - has the lightest hair of the brothers but is still on the blonde spectrum rather than silver

But honestly I never hardcore thought about this until now so maybe I'll think about it, re-evaluate, and get back to you with updates 😂

From your fics it seems like you’re very sensitive and caring towards others. Almost overly so. You don’t like dark humor and, bassed on your previous posts showcasing your interest in witch craft, I honestly can’t see you casting any dark spells on people. Though I am very curious as to what your interests/specialties are in that area.

You’re drawn to softer characters because you feel they’re a sort of compensation for the lack of love in the world right now and prefer to get lost in their stories.

On the other hand, something tells me I wouldn’t wanna get into a verbal sparring match or debate with you. You’ve likely already done your research and can out logic everyone in the room with assertiveness (with a smirk as you watch them try and keep up).

IDK why, but I feel like you’re not a fan of heights, drive an older style car, have a higher pitched voice, and are classified as the “responsible” one in your friend group/at work.

- you're correct in that I don't generally cast baneful magic on people but by that I generally mean people in my everyday life. I don't have the same qualms about politicians, institutions, oppressors etc. It's not my lane necessarily but baneful practices have a long history as a way to fight and protect against oppression and baneful protections are a fairly common thing. Roses are love and friendship but also have thorns; nails are protective but also penetrative etc

- I do just genuinely want people to be kind and rational. It upsets me that this is so uncommon nowadays. (But also give me your evil female characters. Let be evil without needing to get revenge for a lost child)

- This is 100% correct. I used to be on the speech and debate team and now work with government contracts.

- I'm terrified of heights but have been to many tall places 😂😭

- I am the (gender-neutral) mom friend who asks too many questions about safety and your disaster planning and packs too many bandaids and water.

- Um I guess my voice is on the higher side (though I wish it wasn't)?

- I live in a city with pretty good public transportation, so I don't own a car, but I think older cars are generally safer and run better.

How would our dear Glorfindel be with a partner who was needy for his attention after a long day? (following him around the house while holding the hem of his robe, telling him about their day, looking for any excuse to be in contact with him, cuddles ect.)

Also, would he stand up for his partner if they were insulted, especially if they had an impairment? (not projecting at all lol)

Do you think he would tap into his telepathy and talk to his partner during a boring meeting?

🌻 In terms of a needy partner, I kind of generally HC Glorfindel as being pretty needy, as well, but I also hc him as being a tease because he likes to wreck his partner after keying them up all day. So I think it really depends on what the situation seems to be: does his partner want to be held and loved and cuddled, etc.? If so, I think he'll definitely spend most of the day hugging them and pressing kisses to their head as he goes about his duties (unless he can take the day off to spend with them). If it seems to be more of a sexually teasing nature, I think he'll do a lot of light touches and brushing against them to get them all keyed up so they're begging for him later 😈.

🌻 Glorfindel would 100% knock out whoever insulted his partner if he was able to (wouldn't cause like a diplomatic scandal; I mean he still might...). He generally doesn't use his Lordly and General titles with any weight because others already know who he is and give him his due respect, but he'll put all his weight into them in order to stand up for those that he loves.

🌻 I think that he would definitely use his ósanwë to talk to his partner during a boring meeting! Especially if it's about trades and taxes (that's generally more Erestor's place of expertise). He's generally pretty attentive and always checks in on the conversation from time to time, though.

🌻 I don't currently have any Asfaloth HCs, but I'll do some thinking on it!

Since Haldir got them all hooked on coffee, how do the brothers take theirs? Who do they bring over for coffee & tea, if anyone? ☕️

Orophin isn't allowed to have coffee 😂jk no I feel like he may need it the most

Haldir

Usually has one cup in the morning and a smaller, second cup in the afternoon after lunch. Both he takes with light-medium cream depending on how he feels. He doesn't take sugar in his coffee so he has an excuse to have pastries with it.

He likes to use that time to review reports or cuddle his partner(s). Tries new coffee blends and ways of making them in the morning and has a cup of his favorite blend in the afternoon for a pick me up.

Rúmil

Usually takes his cup - maybe two - onto the balcony or other sunny location to drink watching the world awaken or with a book. Takes a moderate amount of cream/milk and a just a dash of sugar. If he has a second cup, he usually drinks it while getting dressed and ready for the day. He's a slow morning guy. He'll obviously share coffee with whomever he had over for the evening if they want.

Orophin

Drinks like 2 1/2 cups of coffee minimum in the morning and the first two of them black for solely fuel alone. He chugs them before he's even fully awake and he can be lured to the kitchen for breakfast via coffee. Post 2 cups, he'll tailor coffee as suits his taste - but honestly it'll probably still be black. He only drinks coffee with additions if he's with his brothers because they worry about his digestive system 😂

Whether or not Oro drinks coffee does not affect his hyperactivity levels. It only helps him wake up sooner rather than later.

They're definitely a brunch family and get together at least once on the weekend for it and they'll have coffee with each other. While brunch is kind of an exclusive affair, the post-coffee ritual is not and they'll invite friends or visiting dignitaries if needed.

What’s your HC for how Glorfindel would make it known to a potential partner that he’s interested in them? Also, what kind of personality, generally speaking, would you see him gravitating to? I’m trying to write a fic and need someone to brainstorm with lol

Ooo well I do hc him with Erestor and Ecthelion so I suppose I generally see him interested in the sometimes introverted ones. Ones with a lot of sass and/or penchant for being a bit judgey and shading others. I generally see him as fairly easy going, however, so I do think he would be up to at least try being with others. But I think because he has such a large personality (loud, commanding, fun-loving, etc.) that he would like to be with someone else that also has a large personality, even though they may not be loud themselves.

I also kind of personally see him as being an elf who is intrigued by others who are more reticent with all of their thoughts and feelings whether that be with a political mask or just by personality. He likes to get to know them and tease out their secrets.

I generally view his relationships with Erestor and Ecthelion as very give and take (in and out of the bedroom) because they all have such high-stress positions, but also because they're pretty versatile just in general. Glorfindel wouldn't mind being in charge or more assertive partner, but I think he'd like to be able to give that up sometimes, as well. I would say the exception to this tends to be when he's protective over them, but I think it would ease his mind to know his partner(s) were partially capable in protecting themselves in some way without him.
