Shadows & Strongholds - Elizabeth Chadwick
A historic tale like no other, Elizabeth Chadwick has a talent for bringing life to her characters and heart to her stories. This was my first Chadwick novel and it sort of started a craze.
It’s not like there aren’t millions of historical(romance) writers out there but Chadwick and Juliet Marillier are my go to when it comes to medieval themed books.
At the age of 10, young Brunin was given into the hands of Joscelin de Dinan, Lord of Ludlow, to be fostered in the hopes that he would learn the knightly arts. Hawise, Joscelin de Dinan daughter , who is known to be headstrong and a hoyden will transform this awkward misfit and they will build a fast friendship.
Years later their households will face threats and it will be their friendship that will hold the family together. But betrayal is never far and when it comes from one of your own, the pain is always deepest.
In a time where war is unavoidable stronger bond are needed.
