Elizaveta's Last Day @ Perkins&Will
We spent our final day at Perkins&Will with Jennifer. In the morning, we reviewed our portfolios and received valuable feedback. Then we went to a restaurant with Jennifer, Sergio, and Tobi, where we talked about BAC and architecture. Our last day was not too busy since most of the people work from home on Fridays.
It has been an amazing experience, and I hope to be back at Perkins&Will one day.

Elizaveta's Day 4 @ Perkins&Will
The highlight of Day 4 was a site visit. We finally got to see the renovations in action. Mathew gave us a tour and explained every detail that caught our attention.
Elizaveta's Day 3 @ Perkins&Will
This morning started with a meeting about the elevator door sill. It was surprising to me that a small object like this could require an architect, structural engineer, and code advisor to talk for two hours.
Shortly after, we joined a corporate interior meeting. The most exciting part for me was the legal discussion. The team was advised on correctly exchanging information with clients and contractors. This way, everyone is protected against lawsuits.
We shadowed Jennifer for the rest of the day, where she introduced us to the Perkins&Will 3 day design competition. I was amazed by the projects the teams completed in such a short period of time.
Elizaveta's Day 2 @ Perkins&Will
The second day at Perkins&Will started with a meeting with Octavia. She introduced us to a project she was working on. All three of us were amazed by the details of the diagrams, plans, and sections. The project had 300 pages full of drawings. This was definitely a reality check of what architecture really is and how detailed the drawings should be.
After meeting with Octavia, we were invited to a Design Discussion lunch. Everyone in the office gathered together to talk about new design ideas. The emphasis of the meeting was on giving everyone a chance to speak. We divided into smaller groups and talked about ways to improve architectural designs. I bought up the importance of the mental health of the residents and how to improve it by building with social connectivity in mind.
After lunch, we met Jacob, who introduced us to mass timber construction and shadowed Michael for the rest of the day.
It was an amazing day!
Elizaveta's Day 1 @ Perkins&Will
Our first day at Perkins&Will has been exciting. In the morning, we met with Michael Boone (Senior Project Manager, Senior Associate) and talked about office culture and architecture. Then, we had a Zoom meeting with HR, where we learned about opportunities at P&W. At lunch, we met with Sergio and Ryan, two BAC alumni. Sergio and Ryan showed us the Matterport software and camera.
In the afternoon we shadowed Michael and helped his team to complete the project P&W was working on.
