all alone he was on that day, sitting on a bench in a deserted park in the middle of the city ( what city, he could not tell ). From time to time, even an Entity like him needed a moment to stop, to rest his unstoppable legs and think, even if it was better not to enter his thoughts. He had stayed in silence for long and long minutes, his head low, but as soon as he heard a sound behind him Etienne straightened up, although he did not turn to face the newcomer.
“Qui êtes—vous?"

i prefer your “normal” icon psd, but that’s just my opinion tbh.

"Irial, Michael's crying, and it's your turn."
a soft sigh comes out his mouth, but he does not complain and gets up from the sofa, where Elle is sleeping, a blanket covering her body so she will not freeze. She always says it should be him to get up and do the dirty job at night, since he is the one who does not sleep; and even if he would like to reply, somehow, he cannot. Or does not want to. Either way, he stretches his arms above his head before walking to the child’s bedroom.
Theirs is not an ordinary child, they have known it since the beginning. It was like making a bet with Fate, to see if Irial’s blood would turn the child into someone of his species or not; and apparently it did. Even if none of them knew it, Elle had the same symptoms Irial’s mother had had while she was pregnant: lack of sleep and shadows moving in every corner of the house, even those who do not belong to him. She was scared, he was not. And when the child was born - a male, whom she decided to call Michael - and they saw his eyes were brown, they thought it had been just a false alarm.
They were wrong.
He noticed it first, one day, while walking inside the baby’s room and nothing there was something STRANGE with the darkness inside it. It felt alive, and if he looked carefully he could see THINGS moving inside it; creatures which belonged to the same species of his pets. He would be lying if he said he did not smile at his son’s talent.
Now he is walking to him, his steps being as light as possible, and once he opens the door he is not surprised to see there is already someone - something - taking care of little Michael. Irial has a deja-vù, remembering the way they protected him back then, when he was but a baby abandoned to his destiny. The younger shadows look at him and hiss, but luckily they recognize who is the one in charge and retreats, letting him take his son in his hands and cradle him to sleep.
And it would be a lovely scene, really—if only it was not for the darkness which surrounds them, a dark halo around a Father and a Son who are not holy at all.
