Oh I am SO curious about Margo and Ellen!!

It turns out I might end up finishing this because the draft is actually pretty good? But the conceit is something canon compliant, in which Ellen visits Margo in her early days in prison and tries to understand what the everliving fuck happened.

Here is a snippet:

“I wanted to know if it was true,” Ellen replies. “All the media bullshit. Moscow Margo. Worst traitor in a century. And that was before–.” She shakes her head, her face set into a disbelieving frown. “You hated politics.” Margo coughs at that, something that could have been a laugh in a different life. “Some of it is true,” Margo says, meeting Ellen’s cloudy eyes. “But it was never about politics.” Ellen raises her eyebrows. “Sharing state secrets and defecting to the Soviet Union are incredibly political acts.”  “Political acts do not require political motivation,” Margo says.

I want to read this book! And I love, though it’s sad, those are the words Deke told her back in ‘74. Clearly it stayed with her for decades.. and then to title her memoirs that… wow.

Another thing of note watching the intro of season 5… it’s like Ellen is the only big wig from NASA whose reputation didn’t go down in flames. You know what that means? Yeah. More lesbians should be in charge.
