having unwashed hair will have you believing shit like i can’t be saved
i'm not exactly a GO s3 hater but i do think it's objectively hilarious how a story meant to be about the power of humanity, which also satirizes christianity, did still manage to stick a decidedly christian jesus metaphor into its creation of a shiny new god/angels/demons-free universe, while also literally killing the actual human jesus
It's been almost 48 hours. I have processed the finale. I'm past my grievances. I've ran out of the conventional stages of grief and I'm currently on the secret 6th one. It's time for memes
you have this superpower! BUT you have this side-effect
is it worth it?
yes!!
the side effect is bad but ITS WORTH IT
meh it's okay
the side effect makes it unusable/not worth it
Results/option I didn't think of
ok I had my issues w the finale but the amount of takes I'm seeing that boil down too "but that's not what I wanted 😤" is making me want to defend it
stating this without comment on my personal opinion of the finale: it felt like there was an internal conflict that the story struggled to resolve as to what its actual purpose as a story was. season 1 was a largely faithful adaptation of the good omens novels wherein a/c are not the protagonists and the theme is "humanity is the point and the rest is bullshit", season 2 was a love letter to aziraphale and crowley that took the world of heaven/hell incredibly seriously. they were really, really different stories, so what does s3 become then?
the sense I got was that it wanted to thematically return to season 1 but at a plot level it was still living in season 2. which, yeah—obviously it's going to pick up where s2 left off on a literal level, and obviously it's also going to return to the core themes of the good omens story. so, no human characters left in a story about humanity and a heavy, complex conflict between two eternal beings to deal with in the meantime
Not commenting on the quality of the choice to end it how they ended it, to be clear, just putting forth some thoughts on how we even ended up here
science has always been political. what gets studied. what doesnt. who gets to do the studying. on and on and on.
scientists on this post: yuuuup 👍
people who aren't scientists: um actually ☝️
I actually really liked the "kiss" in front of god I think it would have been weird if they actually touched lips in that situation, but in the GARDEN brother the tension was palpable

Things that will never make me think less of someone: Enjoying media, entertainment, or aesthetics with ideologically reactionary elements
Things that will IMMEDIATELY make me think less of someone: Insisting that the ideologically reactionary media, entertainment, or aesthetics they enjoy are actually Le Hecking Epic Wholesome Leftist Praxis
To draw upon a semi-recent Discourse topic, if you encounter a claim along the lines that, idk, for example, the imagery and cultural idea of Knights as it exists in pop culture is entrenched with a long history of islamophonia (due to how much of this cultural imaginary comes directly from the narrative of the Crusades) and your response is "I still think knight imagery is cool, I don't enjoy things based on how ideologically correct they are" I'll respect you infinitely more than if your response was "Actually liking knights is leftist because there's nothing more leftist than protecting those weaker than you"
"I don't engage with this thing to have my politics parroted back at me" will always be 1000x more graceful and productive than trying to argue that everything you like is Fundamentally Leftist, Actually.
incredible subset of autistic/adhd person out there who thinks that “neurotypicals” don’t have inner worlds/thoughts /interests
comments under a post about autistic hyper empathy. like you can’t really believe that 80% of people don’t wonder or care or think about anything can you
A thing that is maybe ultimately harmless but also kind of… not exactly a pet peeve but it just makes me feel iffy, is assuming if someone has somewhat unusual interest(s) that in and of itself is equivalent to an autism/ADHD diagnosis, so therefore someone who doesn't fall under that can't possibly be interested in anything outside of the normal.
like yes that is one of many possible symptoms, I myself am diagnosed with ADHD, but I dunno, I don't think I'd be a completely different person with zero likes/interests if I didn't have it. Neurotypical people have weird fascinations too. Just talk to a "normie" long enough. People don't need to be born a certain way and have an innate neurodevelopmental condition to be curious about the world around them. One of the most rewarding parts of education and science communication is finding ways to reawaken curiosity in a wide range of different people, something everyone had as kids but some of us have been conditioned to ignore.
If your friend is struggling, the signs might not be obvious. A cry for help can take many different forms. Try checking in on them if you hear them express any of the following sentiments:
I miss Supernatural
I should rewatch Supernatural
Supernatural was such a good show
I hope they make more Supernatural

I suddenly have feelings and opinions about a ship on a show I've never watched (I'm only 90% sure I have the names correct).
"don't assign human morality to non human things" is so true except when it comes to printers. they know what they are, they understand dilemmas and ethics and morality. they choose to be how they are, they choose to be evil, at their very core they are rotten
