Marlene has died.
"….has died. Finish it in my ask."
➳ No.
Like an apical blade jammed into her rib cage — not expected nor able to be pulled free. Pain pierced with no forewarning, tears of crimson streamed from the throbbing wound. No matter what choices she made now, it was going to be too late.
Death cannot be stopped.
”Ellie — Marlene—.. she’s gone to a better place now.”
Even after all those years — tossed into an Orphanage; beaten by boisterous bullies and witnessing cruel, devilish deaths. She may not have been there physically to wipe away the tears that had fallen, but Ellie knew that Marlene was watching over her — wherever she was in this disaster of a world.
The single thought put her at ease. She had someone who cared despite what bestial intentions came her way. No amount of blood, ash or pain that peppered her delicate soul — Marlene would always be there.
You have her hair.
If she could hear what comes out of that mouth of yours…
Anna would have been so proud.
A tether. Marlene had stood by when Anna had fallen. If she was really gone, all that still remained unknown about her mother would turn to stardust.
”Bullshit.” Her hushed voice broke as the single word jumped from her tongue. Her tainted mind refused to believe such a thing; but the features upon her face said otherwise. Tears welled under emerald optics; the bottom of her lip quivering. Emotion slithered up the back of her throat and hit every nerve ending that once blossomed like poetry. No matter how much she had grown, that underlying innocence she had always possessed washed over delicate countenance once more.
Not Marlene.
She couldn’t let go of the one woman who had stood by her since the day she came into this world. She was the woman who took Ellie under her wing — who had taught her and shown her things no one else could.
She fumbled with dainty fingers; hues soon dropped to the ground. She wanted to scream and kick and cry until she passed out. But she couldn’t. Not here; not now.
;;Don’t leave me.
;;I’m scared.
