Thinking About Bob Being a Big Brother to Ellie (OC)
A/N: I watched Thunderbolts and had to share some self indulgent thoughts about my boy and my OC, Ellie Jackson.
For those interested here is my Masterlist explaining Ellie and her mother Cassandra and just her tag in general.
But for those of you who want to sum up: Ellie is the daughter of Cassandra, a witch, and Damien, a demon. She is an anti-christ, not to be confused with The Anti-Christ. At this point in the story she has rejected the throne of hell, but is still figuring out her place in the universe being very much not human, but not a demon either.
I know she'd be primed to join the Young Avengers, which they are clearly building up to, but again, let me indulge
I don't think she would be introduced to the group at large in Thunderbolts, but maybe framed as a threat later
I can easily see Val trying to set her up as a big bad to fight as a PR stunt
Both Yelena and Bob would quickly come to her defence once they see that the demon spawn their fighting is just a freaked out teenager that's temporarily lost control of their powers
Yeah she's technically an adult, 18/19, but she is still very much a kid
The team basically agrees to keep an eye on her (not that she needs it since she still has a mom that is very much alive), but you know, it's the visual that matters
She actually has more control over her powers than Bob, but they're often left in the Watchtower together
Bob because of the Void and Ellie because demon
They each think they're there to watch over the other
Ellie is the epitome of "he asked for no pickles"
While Bob is always quick to correct people, telling them Ellie is "not a girl" and "not a demon"
Ellie regularly helps Bob get out of the tower and explore New York because they can't seriously be expected to just say here and do nothing
Bob meanwhile keeps a more quiet eye on her
He makes an extra plate of something if he's cooking knowing she may say she doesn't want anything, but will steal something off his plate anyway; watches whatever funny videos she sends him; generally supportive and doesn't bug her about not immediately going to college (even if he thinks going to college is a good idea)
I just love the idea of this absolute disaster of a man looks at this teenager and is like, "well somebody has to make sure she doesn’t burn the place down”
Them being protective of each other
Ellie is more comfortable going into demon mode to protect Bob
Meanwhile Bob is about the only one of the team that can get Ellie to calm down if she goes too far
There is no judgement on either side
Ellie might not know immediately what to do if Bob slips back into the void, but that’s her disaster of a brother and somebody has to knock some sense back into him
Ellie Jackson wasn't crazy. She wasn't. Yes, she sometimes saw things that nobody else did, or heard voices when there was no one to be seen, or seemed to be able to make things happen without meaning to, but she wasn't crazy. Percy was the same as her, and their mom had always reassured them that they were just different. Not crazy. But it was still a mystery, and one that she had always wanted to solve. And when Yancy Academy takes a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ellie might finally get her answers – and wish she'd never asked.
