the way chuuya immediately looks down at his shoe with that curiously hopeful look on his face is the cutest thing in the world. "i don't care about dazai at all" chuuya, my guy, you want his approval of your fucking shoes

everybody acts like dazai joining the ada with no resume or recorded history is the outlier among ada employees but their main hiring requirement is basically a glorified vibe check. the founding detective was kicked out of the police academy. their second employee was a war criminal. they hire orphanage rejects with bounties who have no formal education. a random farm kid became a detective. a child assassin. whatever the hell tanizaki has going on. honestly i'm pretty sure kunikida is the only ada employee who knows what a resume even is.
i need teen skk to be physically affectionate with each other but in the weirdest possible ways because dazai has never had anyone his own age to bond with and chuuya, while he technically did have "friends," was seen as a leader rather than a member of the group. i need them making up ridiculous excuses to sit super close together so they can put their heads on each other's shoulders when they're sleepy after missions. i need dazai complaining about a headache so chuuya will let him put his head in his lap and play with his hair. i need dazai biting chuuya out of cuteness aggression and chuuya being like "what the fuck?" and then allowing it to continue regularly. i need them to share a bed on missions "for safety" even though there are two beds in the room, they just want to sit on the bed and play cards and end up accidentally falling asleep tangled up like a pile of cats. i need them to be physically close but never ever admit that it's intentional.
in the manga, the scene where dazai excitedly explains super deduction to atsushi has the exact same feeling as the scene where dazai explains corruption to steinbeck while he has him at knifepoint. souheki and soukoku are both just some cool guy with dazai as their #1 fan.
lived a hater, died a hater. i respect it.
bungou stray dogs as dogs (from this post)
elise likes to make her toys torture and mutilate each other. she learned her methods from storytimes with dazai as her babysitter. mori encourages this because he thinks it's cute.
there's something about the way mori projects onto dazai and how easy it would be for that projection to become a cage that dazai gets trapped in. mori never quite seeing dazai as his own person but rather as the potential for an improved version of himself and ignoring any evidence to the contrary until he's created a character in his mind of who dazai is that he's forced dazai inside of. something about how seeing the best traits of yourself in someone can make them become the worst version of themself.
