The latest chapter of Starling gives me life and I couldn’t not draw a scene from it!

Also I cannot for the life of me settle on any one style to draw these guys in :'(

So guess who Elliot Blue from Starling Story reminds me of lmao. Like I definitely took some liberties here with the beak but when do I not make things more Xeno. Honestly I can't stop laughing, Mer is like a fish version of him, visually. And Mer's human name is Mateo like....... Lmao. I picked it cuz it's a super common human name but it's... Hilarious. Anyway I love Starling Story and I'm current now. I wanna draw more of this gay alien birb with my gay alien fish son.

I love a good philosophical sci-fi story. I also really, really love interspecies human/alien romance stories. However, even though I'd heard of Starling every once in a while for years now - one of the people I follow on Tumblr is a passionate proselytizer -  I never really knew what it was about, and I never had the time or the inclination to change that. When a rec post came across my dash, however, giving me a spiel and a link to a starting point, I figured it was time to check it out.

So many pretty blue patterns! The paper for his torso is actually a constellation map; I hunted around until I found Apus, the bird of paradise constellation, and cut it out (snickering to myself the whole time because PUNS).
