Lady Cassowary ♡
My girl is not even mine yet and I’m so committed. I love her more than I’ve ever loved anyone else. She’s going through a rough time right now and it’s so hard to watch and not be able to do anything because we are so far apart and I don’t understand how the American job system works. I just want her to be happy because she deserves so much more than what she has. She deserves the whole world and i can’t give it to her and that’s what hurts the most. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time searching for flights to NJ from Sydney. All of these feelings and we’re not even official. I’m so scared to let her down. She is my life.
it can be so, so hard to watch someone you love go through a rough time and feel like you can’t do anything for them. the good news is that you can still do things for her without being able to be there in person! your support and love, even just through messages or phone calls, can mean so much to someone having a hard time. if you’re able to do so, you can always send a handwritten letter, or arrange flowers to be delivered, but even just showing how much you care in little ways can make a difference. it really sucks to feel like you might not be enough for the person you love, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up! i wish you the best of luck
If you could put a self insert OC into Carmilla would you do it and who would it be?
No, I would not because self-inserts are something that poor writers (and GRRM) do. I don’t like them because it smacks of a writer not being able to separate themselves from the story and not being able to keep themselves a neutral observer to the events that they’re writing. While there is some use for self-inserts, they’re generally more annoying to me than anything else.
If I were to do it, I’d create just some random character who walks by one time. A cameo like Stan Lee in MCU movies.
How do you deal with expansions getting worse and worse. Like how do you stop shit from getting boring when you've tried a bit of everything and nothing is fun anymore? I feel like raid night is more arduous than anything else these days.
To be honest it’s not that the game itself is getting worse persay, it’s just that people are starting to grow out of it. 10 years of the same basic formula is gonna get stale for everyone eventually. At the same time, I get the feeling Blizzard isn’t trying as hard or as proud of WoW as they used to be.
WoD launched with a ton of content in theory BUT all of it was the SAME CONTENT WoW has always had. There was nothing new, in fact WoD itself is just Blizzard’s weird way of repackaging TBC so even the story and most of the characters are recycled. WoW will always be the same kind of PVP and the same kind of PVE – it can’t be anything different because then no one would come back.
But the combination of no flying + garrisons + some other minor yet impactful changes has removed A LOT of reasons most people keep playing past the first few weeks.
And some new things/changes were too much, like the way they turned 10/25man heroic raids into 20man mythic raids. The new size made no sense since the VAST majority of heroic guilds from Cata>MoP were 10mans and most didn’t survive the harsh transition. It’s been tragic tbh.
All other raid sizes were turned into flex lockouts, which is convenient but not very fun when everyone in your guild is either too bored or too burnt out to show up.
LFR continues to remove peoples incentive to improve themselves and try harder content. Why bother when they can see/get everything done with minimal effort?
On the other hand some poor souls can only do LFR now because their raiding guilds/friends have quit and it’s too hard to raise a new guild from the ashes. Without gear flow their only other choice is to play with shitty pugs or quit.
The things that people love about WoW like mounts and pets and mog collecting were all kinda half-assed this expansion (especially the mounts omg how many wolf and boar recolors do we need ffs). The rep grinds are tedious with little reward. Archeology is shit without flying.
Like.. a lot of the development choices this expansion legitimately feel like Blizzard isn’t trying anymore. They made SoO last over a year just to roll out WoD, which was designed to be their shortest expansion, and it was still incomplete. Where are their resources going? Well if you consider their other game titles coming out it’s not hard to understand why WoW feels like less of a priority. WoW might be their baby but it’s an oooooold baby by today’s standards. The only one who can kill WoW is Blizzard.. tbh I wouldn’t expect anything more than brief novelty from future expansions (kinda like WoD).
IM SORRY I KINDA STARTED RANTING but um to answer your question, I actually DO get bored. In fact between the stress of trying to keep the raid together through burnout and drama and personal bullshit I technically quit raiding a couple months ago lol. I’m coming back for HFC but the amount of fucks I give is VERY limited.
In the meantime I’ve combated boredom in WoW by not playing! I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV instead.
Man FFXIV, it’s been so nice to play a game with an actual story and characters I care about. The dungeons are a step above WoW dungeons for sure and the raid fights look killer. It’s a lot of fun! Don’t know what PVP is like BUT I’ve noticed they have separate abilities for all classes in PVP – literally PVE and PVP are separate entities, which is what I’ve wanted in WoW for a long time. I’m excited to try.
Anyway yeah, there is nothing to do in WoD unless you’re really into achievements. That will change on tuesday with the HFC patch but who knows how long Timeless Isle Tanaan rep grinds will keep people interested.
Bottom line though, if WoW isn’t fun anymore it’s worth quitting. There are LOTS of new and fun games out there now, even MMOs! WoW will always be there if you want to come back.
Nice to see more Canberrans in the Carmilla fandom, I thought I was alone ^^
