My gf will be visting for the first time next year. Obviously I'm super excited but I'm not sure how to tell my mom I have a gf and that I'm going to be staying in a hotel with her for a couple of weeks. We're both over 18 so that's not a problem, it's just my mom is very anti ldr. I get her concerns about catfishing but my gf and I talk almost every day, we Snapchat, we've video chatted. If you have any advice, it would be very appreciated ❤

that’s a tough one, because there’s really only so many ways you can try to explain something like that (and it can be taxing to have to justify your relationship to other people). i think that the sooner you tell her, the better, because it will allow her to get adjusted, ask questions, etc. awkward as it may be, if she’s worried abt catfishing you could set up a video call so she can talk to your gf, and at least see that ur not dating some rando old serial killer or whatever.
it would probably also help your mom and gf could meet each other during the visit! but for now i think you just gotta say that you’ve been seeing someone who you trust, and try not to let her get into your head if she starts talking about how it’s unrealistic or unsafe. take your time with it, you don’t have to change her mind in fifteen minutes- that might only make both of you more frustrated. i hope she has patience and can learn to be understanding of you and your relationship :)
