Born wealthy and raised religious, Eloise arrived in Rapture in 1951 at age twenty three, drawn in by Andrew Ryan’s promises, and the freedom she felt “no gods, no kings, only man” would allow her. Eloise lived her life as a self described hedonist, seeking only her idea of pleasure and self indulgence. Sex, drugs, parties, and an eventual entanglement with Doctor Lilith Rockwell.
Despite Eloise’s wealth, her pursuits in the world of show business got her nowhere, feeding her already fierce sense of jealousy of those who seemed to have more than her, and bringing her further into her own indulgences.
On New Year’s Eve, Eloise was in the Kashmir, and sustained significantly serious injuries in the attack. Her close brush with death lead Eloise to believe that this was a divine punishment from God, viewing her sinful lifestyle as the cause. She fell hard back into religion, isolating herself even after her recovery. When her prayers went unanswered, Eloise believed that God had abandoned Rapture for good.
Following Sofia Lamb’s rise to power, Eloise found a new path to salvation through The Family. Though she had once believed Sofia to be a conwoman, seeing no value in her field of study, Eloise now became an intensely avid follower of hers, completely and utterly devoted to Doctor Lamb. The Family became her entire world, her reason for living, and her belief in it was unshakeable.
However, Eloise did not become absent of flaw. She still struggled immensely with her feelings of jealousy, her own self impulses, and particularly the attraction she felt towards Sofia herself. Her impulses eventually lead her back with Lilith Rockwell, who she had grown apart from since her return to religion. Lilith attempted to draw her back in to their old relationship, but Eloise refused, believing Lilith to be a force of sin.
