Before Brooklyn:
Growing up in Washington D.C, Eloise’s father has been a high profile secret service agent for the President for as long as she can remember. Taught multiple languages and skills from a young age, Eloise is overly educated and was a stickler for politics from early on. Eloise complied with her parents hopes for her, easily learning piano, ballet, Mandarin, French and anything else her parents dreamed up for her. Eloise could have been the poster girl for the perfect child, always listening to everything she was told to do. Never rebellious and always respectful, Eloise moved to New York for college when she was 18 to attend Columbia University for a degree in Political Science. Completing her time at Columbia with an honors distinction as well as the acting president of her sorority, Eloise fit right into the box her parents had built for her. However, on her last night of college, Eloise’s plan for herself fell apart. A video of Eloise having sex with the President hit the internet, and her dream of becoming a senator one day unraveled. Eloise knew that though male politicians could easily recover from a sex scandal in the eyes of the public, female politicians certainly didn’t have the same luxury. And just like that, Eloise’s life spiraled out of control.
In Brooklyn:
As if her family’s embarrassment of her wasn’t enough, Eloise found herself unable to find a job after college due to the media’s relentless coverage of the sex scandal story. Realizing that the life she had wanted for so long was now simply a pipe dream, Eloise realized that she needed a new plan. Pragmatic and direct, Eloise’s goals needed to shift. The public shaming that she faced in the media as well as by the high-profile people her family was surrounded by caused Eloise to select a new place to live. Brooklyn seemed like somewhere Eloise could be herself, and she assumed that the public would be less judgmental of the one fatal mistake she had made in her life. Eloise convinced her father to give her a large sum of money if she’d just disappear from the public eye for a while, and Eloise took that as permission to open her own boutique on a trendy street in Brooklyn, calling it Eloise’s Closet. Eloise is fashionable, organized and exceedingly greedy, so her boutique is nothing if not successful. Actresses, models and artists alike shop at her place, but Eloise’s past has never truly disappeared. The popular nature of her store could be due to her profile as the President’s mistress, but Eloise has a new goal in life – after learning far too much about her father’s career during her time spent in the White House as a child, Eloise is blackmailing her family for cash. She gets whatever she wants from them – so long as she keeps her mouth sealed shut.
