elowyn was not born to be a shapechanger ... she wasn't even meant to ever take a true human form . a dryad's skin is thick like spruce bark in her natural form , whereas she feels entirely unsafe in human skin . because it's unnatural , her transformations between human and bear form are excruciatingly painful . it feels like every bone in her body has been shattered just to be pushed back into a different shape .
