I love all the meanings behind Elsa’s solo moment in “Some Things Never Change”...

First, her verse seems to detach itself from the rest of the song. The background instruments are different, the melody is different, the key is different, hell even the tempo is different. It clearly shows that, even if she fits in Arendelle’s daily life (literally the song), she stills longs to be somewhere else.

Second, the CLEVERNESS of the shot. Elsa is on a balcony, Arendelle’s castle’s balcony. It could be interpreted as a symbol of her Queen status (after all, she attends a royal meeting at the very beginning, also happening near a balcony!) but also it’s brilliant how she is standing there while Sven, Olaf, Kristoff and Anna are away, standing together but in the distance, in the village. Notice what separate them? YEP, A BRIDGE. - I almost yelped when I noticed that on 3rd watching -

also, if you think that it’s all that the directors and genius animators did to put foreshadowing hints in that moment, hohohoho you’re wrong, because if you pay attention you’ll actually notice that as Elsa sings, they exposed her character development: she firstly generally looks at Arendelle’s village (her people, whom she’s glad are safe and happy), then the camera zooms on Anna laughing with Kristoff (her sister, whose joy is what matters most in her life), and then she looks around on the balcony and slowly realize that despite the distance, she can join them. She is fully free to rush down the stairs and hurry outside to have fun with her family, anytime she wants. She does, and when she spots Anna in the crowd, they each do half of the distance and join in the middle.

In summary, WDAS ANIMATORS ARE GENIUSES.
