The Mamori Expedition - Els Viaene
After reading Felix Hess and listen to Els's work, I started to realize that the organic of sound is most interest me. Trying to merge with the nature to create with a little push of electronics is one of the ways to realize an artwork. Nature to me started to become very important to me. With the trees and stones in Latin America, I fell in love with the natural art made by God. Feel with the air, the sound what you listen guide you to the movement, time and space. It is just like a video that you can totally imagine what left behind and create you own world.
the experience an artist can guide can give audience an imaginative visual landscape. this is how she makes use of the field recording with an installation.
It is inspiring to me because she does not have a proper traditional musical education which is quite similar to me and somehow i do not really know how to deal with sound. Now i get a closer idea of one of the ways and how i can read the sound art.
Experience is all the matter.
Even Felix Hess understands the system of frogs producing sound. and he chases back the structure and create a piece that can listen to the surrounding sound. turned off all the ambient sound to let audience be aware of and sound, not just the frogs' sound.
