Being an ENGLISH TEACHER requires...
Welcome to my blog again.Today I want to talk about being a teacher.I thought that before sharing my experiences and teaching ideas I should try to explain my perspective and let you know what kind of a teacher I am trying to be.
I will skip the part of 'love what you're doing'.I am sure that everybody notice the importance of it now.
My tap principle is to think out of the box! From the very beginning of a lesson, warm up,and to the last minute of the lesson, wrap up.Both the teachers and the learners are fed up with that disgusting dialogue.
-Hi class!How are you?
-Fine thanks and you?
-Fine,sit down!
This is too awkward and not the natural use of english.Instead of it, I prefer using new language chunks to ask them how they are such as 'Is everything ok?,Are you fine?,How do you feel?' etc.I know that many teachers get accustomed to using that disgusting dialogue, but don't forget that you don't have to do the same thing with them.Just think out of the box!
The other issue, I try to use english in a natural way.Ultimately, we want our students to be productive and to use the language in their daily lives. Thus, I really care about giving right input to my learners. All the teachers' aim to make the learners use the language. However, what do we do to make this dream come true?
This is not only us having an aim,but also the lesson should have an aim.Eerything we did in the classroom and every activity we used should be meaningful. It should answer the question of 'Why did I do this activity in the classroom?'I mean if you played a word game in the class, why did you do that?We have to be very careful at this point.
Generally these are my tap principles while teaching.Every time I plan a lesso, I try to get help from these three point. If you have any principle or idea, please let me know.I will be waiting for your opinions.
TAKE CARE...
