Elvis (2005) - Priscilla Presley

Antonia played the role of Priscilla Presley in the two-part 2005 Elvis miniseries. Although she is credited in both episodes, she only actually appears in part II.

Priscilla's appearance in the miniseries starts when she meets 24 year old Elvis (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) at just 14 while he's stationed in Germany for military service. Her portrayal in the show is solely focused on her relationship to Elvis, and follows the events of the real Elvis and Priscilla Presley's tumultuous courtship through the birth of their daughter Lisa-Marie.

To be perfectly honest this is one of the less enjoyable of Antonia's roles for me. While the miniseries overall is fine, Priscilla's arc in it is painful to watch. Her appearances mainly consist of fawning over Elvis while he grooms and love bombs her, then pouting when he repeatedly mistreats her. In real life Priscilla eventually left Elvis, but we don't get to see that in this miniseries - the show is focused on Elvis himself and wants to go out on a high note, so it ends on his very successful 1968 comeback special. This places Priscilla at the point in their marriage where her husband has just told her he's no longer sexually attracted to her because she's given birth. What a gem!

That said, it is a rare appearance of Antonia as a brunette, and it's fun to watch her chuck a melon at the floor in one of the only moments where they allow her character to have any bite.

in the US the Elvis 2005 miniseries is available on Amazon Video for Prime subscribers and free on both Tubi and Pluto.tv. It's also available in DVD form, although it may be tricky to find as it's out of print. If you only care about Antonia's role I've created a video with just her scenes including a deleted scene.

I was watching Elvis (2005) and I am quite surprised that it wasn't bigger than what it could be. However I really liked Jonathan Rhys Meyers performence, so I will soon see Austin's as well.
