Hello! I have a question about acceptable submissions for the upcoming SWBB. I (shamefully) posted an unfinished WIP about two years ago that I never updated. I have, however, been working on it extensively. So extensively, in fact, that it's now got a different pairing and only the setting and a couple paragraphs remain the same. Would something like this be acceptable for this event, seeing as it has been posted before, but only in an unfinished and nebulously recognizable sense?

Thanks for your question! We would be happy to accept a story reworked in the way that you describe, although we would ask that you unpublish the first version of the fic (the unfinished WIP). If that’s OK for you, then full steam ahead!

xkit extension called one-click reply i think? you just install it and then when you mouseover the notification in your dash/activity a reply button appears on the right and you just click that and it formats a text post for you

I dunno. I read the books, but I haven't got past the Red Wedding in the show. Do you know if s5 follows what Martin plans to do with the books, or do they just go their separate ways at that point?

s5 was the equivalent of AFFC/ADWD and mostly followed what went down in the books with most of the characters. as in, most of the main characters started and ended in similar places in the books and on screen. but the plot from point A to point B was a bit different. some of those choices i understand, because it’s the issue of translating literature to cinema, while others..... were complete trainwrecks.

(note: they might have gotten better after i stopped watching. i was too impatient to stay and find out. creative liberties were taken, as is the showrunners’ prerogative. doesn’t mean i have to enjoy all of them.)

on the other hand, s6 is completely new territory. so i’m curious to see how it plays out (and i think some of the trainwreck storylines from last season got wrapped up pretty quickly so at least those are gone), but i can’t decide if i want to get all emotionally invested again.

i believe GRRM has told the writers roughly how the series will progress and how it ends, but after that it’s up to them to reach that point on their own. but he’s also released a handful of TWOW chapters (the most recent being Arianne this past week, YAY!), oftentimes featuring characters who have either been killed off on the show, or simply never existed on screen at all.

maybe i shouldn’t even be asking this question until the season’s, you know, actually over XD

MEGA FIC REC: 'O sea-starved, hungry sea' by stripytights (Wincest, 8K, NC-17). A case with a selkie turns into far more than the Winchesters had ever anticipated. Sam has to resist the urge of the sea, Dean's got to live with what might have to be done to hold him back from it. 

This was written for (the oh so lovely) @quickreaver for spn-j2-xmas over on LJ and oh my GOSH I love it a lot okay? It's a casefic set post-S6 and it has Sam and Dean getting tangled up with selkies. I wrote a long incoherent comment on the fic itself which you can read if you're interested in all the reasons I liked it, but mostly it's to do with the version of Sam that stripytights creates: the fic is told from his POV and I found him completely compelling, all his emotions very carefully marshalled and internalised and cautious. Particularly given the setting of the fic in canon, after all the horrible shake-up of S6 and soullessness and Sam getting back his memories of hell, I thought he was super convincing and touching and poignant. The fic as a whole is kind of about Sam’s feelings and what he wants and him being afraid to feel or to show people what he really feels. It’s also beautifully written and very atmospheric. Big rec.
