Prompt : Sound dampened by snow
BSG Bill Adama/Laura Roslin
Lull
She woke up with a start, her feet immediately hitting cold hearth. Something was wrong. But, Bill was fast asleep in the bed she had woken in.
She stood up gingerly. They hadn’t had time to build a floorboard before winter had hit. At least, there was a door.
Laura opened it as quietly as she could but she could hear the sheets rustling behind her.
It was all white, pristin and so quiet. That was it, wadn’t it? This silence. all sounds muffled, had woken her up.
“So quiet.” Bill’s warm body was behind hers and she couldn’t help but lean back.
“I know.. and so sudden."
They just stood at the door of their small cabin and watched this new untainted world covered by thick white snow.
“Last time I saw Dr Baltar, he said that our presence here and the destruction of our technology may have had impacted the weather." He squeezed her arms gently as if she were still the dying leader they had all followed to this eden. Even now, he felt this urge to reassure her even if she didn’t need it. Even it all through this journey he had himself found reassurance in her presence.
“How quiet…" she echoed his simple words and knew next sentiment would echoe his unspoken one, “I can’t help but worry about the fleet. We are all free now and scattered and yet…"
“We all came through this wandering together. And yet, on we must go in our seperate ways. Perhaps it is time for us to let go of our burden”
Laura smiled and closed the door. She turned to kiss him.
Before their could savour yet another kiss free of any distraction; there was a knock.
« Thank the lords you are here. Hera has disapeared!"
“We will find her." Bill Adama’s voice left no doubt and Karl Agathon sighed in relief.
A few words, and they were all running to each other for help and finding help and solace under their leaders’ command.
