I wonder how come no movies ever featured the Ward Charcoal Ovens in Ely, Nevada.

I was born in Ely Nevada; this is a representation of a mural on the Hotel Nevada I grew up loving from childhood. I included the Ward Charcoal Ovens associated with the silver mining as they are just outside of Ely and a favorite family spot.

Both of these bring to mind all of my ancestors especially my dad whom I lost 5 years ago. The night I finished this piece having thought deeply about him, a picture of him smiling popped up on my phone. I took this as a cosmic nod and wink that he loved what I'd created.

Orr’s, Ely, Nevada (2018). I first saw Ely (Nevada) nearly thirty years ago; I’ve stayed there or passed through it every few years since. I’m also familiar with the Ely in England (especially the cathedral, which I used to visit every now and then on day trips when I lived in London). Two very disparate poles of my existence, I guess… Next stop: Ely, Minnesota?
