DASH Awards (July 15, 2015)
Today I learned that I was nominated for awards!
The Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters announced the nominations for their yearly DASH awards tonight, and the two shows I was in that were eligible were both nominated for stuff.
TOMMY at the Footlight Club was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Musical, Best Music Direction, and BEST ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE IN A MUSICAL, and the band won a special consultant’s award for best musical performance. That all feels good after the ordeal that show was. I’m very proud of my cast-mates and our band.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the Longwood Players was nominated for a staggering ELEVEN awards, the most of any play and second-most for any production! Basically the entire tech team was nominated: best set design, best sound design, best prop coordination, best costume design, best lighting design, best stage management, and best direction. Our Rosencrantz was nominated for Best Actor. But the most satisfying ones for me? Best Ensemble in a Play, Best Specialty Ensemble for the Tragedians (that’s me!), and Best Play. So, so, so amazing. That show was a labor of love, it felt and looked great, was so much fun to perform, and I couldn’t be prouder.
The winners are announced at the DASH Gala on Saturday, August 29th. You better believe I’ll be there. And I’ll keep you updated.
