Because we had a negative post about deplorable behaviour from random dudes on the internet last week, I wanted to share an example of men/boys being kind or upstanding in an online capacity.
Again, I have no idea who this guy is (or honestly, if he is even a he; might very well be a lady). But this was a super sweet example of just a random act of kindness–romantically motivated or not. This could even just be RP.
Either way, I definitely took the time to positively enforce the gesture by replying (in RP, on the off chance it was in character) because kindness begets kindness, y'all:

I know this is my personal Tumblr and while I post the content I create here (cosplay, modeling, Let’s Plays), I don’t nurture a community or conversation around my work (and nerd /gaming culture in general) like I do on my public page: Emalynde. So I normally wouldn’t bother posting something like this.

But I wanted to share since this was a big deal for me. My health has faltered and life has had it’s rough patches the last year or so, but my kiddos (subscribers/followers) have done a phenomenal job of helping me keep my chin up. A few in particular got these gift boxes to say thank you for their support. And for caring about what I create. I put a lot of effort into my videos and costumes and images, so it means a lot to have them appreciated.

Thank you so so much to everyone who participated. I even had a handful of people pitch in on Instagram, which is kinda new! Also, I ended up selecting two winners since I was so vague as to the parameters. I’d intended for everyone to use the template I provided to mimic my examples (i.e. put text over my selfie), but I wasn’t very clear about that. So I picked one out of the people who did superimpose a caption onto the image, and then one from the group as a whole. They just so happened to both be people who approached the activity how I intended.
These guys will be getting homemade cookies! 🍪
