Ok so I finally figured out Nika's modern au heritage situation!!

So, it's become pretty clear that Nika is desi? Like, he grew up in a multicultural city, he has a multicultural name, but he's still of desi descent. His mother is also 100% of desi descent, but his dad is mixed race.

Thing about his paternal grandfather, biologically speaking, is that he was never part of Nika's dad's life, and the only guy he called dad was his stepdad? So he could have been just anyone!
