Last year I wanted to do a drawing inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year. This year’s color is Ultra Violet: “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination.” @danielscovill had some great ideas (thanks again!) and I really liked his take on drawing something that represents a push towards greater equality and it got me thinking about having more diversity in STEM fields... something that I think would be awesome. Also the SpaceX launch was inspirational. Ultimately this picture only encompassed a narrow view of what it means to strive for equality, but it was a good challenge and I hope you guys enjoy.

I recently read the novel Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky and saw the film. What was poignant was that the author was writing this book during the German occupation of France and was later sent to Auschwitz where she died. So you really can't read the book without taking her backstory into account. The film is different and is a bit more "Hollywood", but I liked it a lot, so here is some art based off of a scene in the movie. I like the idea of doing painting a screenshot as practice bc it's something different from what I usually do and a little more like concept art.
