✿ What do you think about public call out posts?
Well, they are polarizing, that’s for sure.
I think in general they are needed. There really are some real bad people who just continue to prey on people because victims don’t talk about their experiences. Can you blame them really?
Call out post happens, with evidence and this classic phrase just comes tumbling out of people’s mouths. “Well, they’ve always been nice to me.”
Mm, man. Do you want a cookie that you weren’t the victim this time? Like holy hell, let’s not say things like that to people who have gone through an experience none of us would wish on anyone else.
If you’re going to continue to RP with them, even with clear evidence then fine but let’s not cement that fact with such a shit statement. Don’t pretend to care then. Simple as that.
Also, we end up getting the call out posts of the call out posts, condemning call out posts. It makes you look incredibly silly no matter what the post happens to be about.
There are certainly times when call out posts end up being false, which sucks that people would go to such great lengths to fuck people over but it happens.
I think this is where critical thinking comes into play. Are there people who you know wouldn’t make stuff up/wouldn’t ever say a bad thing about someone, reblogging and adding their own story? Are there A LOT of people confirming that yes, this person is kind of garbage? Then maybe it’s worth considering that they are indeed, not so great. I mean people have whole tags, complete with stories and evidence and yet people still RP with them.
I’m sad that RP is generally king as far as interactions go. People don’t want to lose stories or whatever but just consider something else, like perhaps the human being who was victimized.
