Lucanis Week Day 1: Leisure
You know I can't miss a chance to celebrate my favorite assassin. I hope you enjoy a week of tasty little treats from Lucanis's Logbook <3<3<3<3
Lucanis's Logbook, 1
Morning:
Woke early. Again. Couldn’t sleep with Embria away. Worked out.
Breakfast: fruit, bread, and a boiled egg.
Midday:
Spent the morning reading to Spite. I’ve fallen behind on my serials. Bellara’s newest is certainly… stimulating.
Wants to try. With ROOK!
Lunch: Lemon thyme pasta with fresh bread.
Evening:
Went to the market to get ingredients for dinner. Mussels were fresh, clams too. Has Embria had cioppino before? I don’t think so. She should be home soon, tonight. Trying to keep busy. Cleaned the apartment while dinner simmers.
…I hope she likes it.
Dinner: Cioppino with bread, salad, and a bottle of Seraultine White.
Midnight:
Dinner was excellent. Dessert was better. Judging by her snores, I think it is safe to say we are both satisfied. It is good to have her home. The apartment feels so empty without her. The kitchen is a mess, but that is fine. I will clean it in the morning. For now, all that remains is to finally sleep.
Rookfest Day 6 - Tourney Day!
ICYMI: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5
That's his tough guy face 😂 Let's face it, Jericho's not super competitive. That said, if he does get pulled into a competition, he plays to win. And if it involves magic, logic, or strategy, he's GOING to win.
So for Tourney Day, I've put together an assortment of Rooks, at least 1 from each faction. Tell me what kind of tournament they'd want to participate in, or if they'd rather watch one! @rookfest
Ayla Rook Thorne - @mushrooms-x-moss | Veryl Ingellvar - @hedwigoprah | Embria Aldwir - @himluv | Rukhana Ingellvar - @curiouswisp | Carina de Riva - @jenn2d2 | Rhanek de Riva - @littlemissgeek8 | Lilya de Riva - @serensama | Alectris Mercar - @jukkaricity | Esha Mercar - @in-the-drowning-deep | Lydia Thorne - @dudewheresmynug | Sasha Mercar - @serstolas | Naera Laidir - @serensama | Maeve Aldwir - @wolfmoonwildflowers
Today's quiz result under the cut:
okay actually, I needed to draw all the Rooks traditionally and I already think I need to doodle them again—Rooks in order: Embria from @himluv , Doe from @pirpintine , Murat from @psin314 , Héctor from @elefluff , and Aster from @jaderavenarts (again!) ✨✨✨
I’ve missed doodling, and these Rooks are bringing me back to life lol.
Amara's Dance Card - Part 1
(Original post here <3)
@jukkaricity
After they left the dancefloor, Amara hurried Hugo over to one of the chairs along the wall and kneeled in front of him, healing magic lighting up her hands. "I am so sorry - I don't think anything is broken, but there might be some bruising - "
Hugo chuckled, waving off Amara's attempts to take off his shoe and check over the toes she had just crushed. "Amara! It's fine, really. Do you know what we got through in Crow training? This is nothing! And I promise you, none of my trainers ever apologized about it. Let's go get a drink and I'll just maybe sit out the next one or two..."
-
Alectris marched Amara over to an open spot on the floor where other couples, mostly in Tevinter colors, were pairing off with a respectable distance between them.
"Are you sure about this?" Amara asked hesitantly.
"Absolutely." Alectris grinned. "The minuet keeps everyone more or less in their own space and is predictable and rigid. Just pretend I'm your drill sergeant. I'll call out the moves and you'll be fine."
And they were - mostly. Amara turned in the wrong direction once or twice, but thankfully the spacing of the dance meant collisions were avoided.

@flowersforthemachines @himluv
"You are both very brave women," Amara muttered, as Ghilasara and Embria took her hands and led her towards the dancefloor.
Ghilasara snorted. "Yes, but in this case? That last dance was a bunch of Orlesian nonsense," she said, spitting out the word like it was poisonous. "This one will be much more your style."
The ladies all joined into a circle with several other elves, all wearing vallaslin. As the music started up, Amara smiled. "Oh, I do remember this one."
Embria squeezed her hand as the whole group started slow steps around the circle, laughing. "I remember Strife describing this once - a dance for all of the People - the young, the infirm, the hopelessly clumsy..."
"Bellara was even able to teach me how to do it. So if you do manage to step on our toes that would almost be impressive," said Ghilasara.
"But you won't," said Embria.
Amara continued to laugh as the dance progressed. "I am very talented, you never know."
Thankfully, the simple circle dance proceeded without incident.

@davrinsleftpectoral
Turvi held out a glass to Amara. It smelled fruity and very strong. "Step one."
Amara took the drink and downed it quickly.
Turvi held out his hand, grinning. "Step two!"
Amara took his hand and they were immediately off, spinning through the dancefloor with little regard for proper steps or matching the music. They both laughed as Turvi dexterously maneuvered them around the more serious couples and intentionally ran them into those who seemed like they would appreciate the game. Turvi dragged those people into the whirling circle until he and Amara were the epicenter of a mass of laughing, swaying dancers. There was no order to their collective movement, just laughter and joy and as many friends as they could gather together.

@kogarashi-art
"I have a plan."
Amara looked at Saadrah. "I'm listening."
Saadrah leaned down to whisper something to Amara. By the end, they were both grinning.
Anyone who had been paying attention to Amara's earlier attempts were suitably impressed with the grace and elegance of the two ladies moving across the dance floor. Saadrah led with confidence, her Wyvern costume dramatic and elegant. Amara, a butterfly in gold and green, moved in perfect synch with the other woman - maybe a little closer than was proper for this style of dancing, but confident in a way she hadn't been with any other turns on the dancefloor.
Thankfully, their long skirts (mostly) hid Amara's now bare feet, resting carefully on Saadrah's shoes.
(More to come <3)
(Thank you @rookfest for hosting!)

Lucanis Week Day 4: Weapon/Demon/Talon
We get a bit more plot in this one. I think it may be my favorite of the week... I hope you enjoy it!
Lucanis's Logbook, 4
Morning:
House Kortez falls tonight, for the last time.
Breakfast: Cantucci, orange juice, bacon, and coffee.
And a KISS good bye.
Midday:
Travel to Antiva City was boring as ever. Met Illario at our usual café. He’s been in the city all week, laying the foundation of our vengeance. He’s good at this. The waiting and watching. The planning. I must remember to tell him as much. Though, praise will wait until the job is done. His plan it may be, but I am still the weapon.
Lunch: Bread, antipasto, and coffee.
Evening:
The trap is set. Illario may have planned this job, but he knows our strengths. No fancy parties. No charming smiles. Just a Crow and his demon in the dark, snuffing life after life without a sound. Orana Kortez will die alone.
Dinner: Nothing.
Midnight:
She died on her knees. Viago’s poison on my blade bent her to the First Talon’s will. House Kortez is dead, as it once was. It will not rise again. The contract is fulfilled.
Now. We go. HOME.
Lucanis Week Day 2: Nightmares
Thank you for all the kind words on Day 1! It's already been an awesome Appreciation Week <3<3<3<3
Today's logbook entry is best if you've read my ficlet Know You Will (fight for me). There's plot! Kinda. If you squint.
Lucanis's Logbook, 2
Morning:
After startling her awake for a week straight, Embria has enlisted Emmrich to help with my more… unpleasant dreams. It is unnecessary. The dreams will fade soon enough.
Breakfast: Coffee, toast, and several soft cheeses.
Midday:
Emmrich means well, but I do not have time for this. House Kortez has made another move, this time against House Valisti. Ronaldo lost two of his Master Assassins in the attempt. I have too much to think about to bother “journaling” my dreams. Besides, the entries would all be the same—bloodshed and water and lifeless crystal grace eyes.
Lunch: More coffee.
Evening:
My foul mood smothers the apartment. To her credit, Embria doesn’t press. No doubt, she spoke with Emmrich already. For all her talk off my being her anchor, she’s the one weathering my storms. I suggested we sleep separately so she might rest. She refused.
Dinner: Venison stew with mashed potatoes and bread.
Midnight:
The dreams persist. I woke in a sweat, panting and clutching the sheets. Embria pulled me to her, my back to her chest, and shushed me. Brushed her fingers through my hair. When she asked what haunted me, I finally told her. About House Dellamorte dripping blood and screams. About Zara’s laugh chasing me through the halls. And about my mother’s deathbed, her skin too pale. But, I did not tell her about the violet-tinged eyes that stare up at me, or that another beloved face has taken my mother’s place. It is an old pain, made new with stress and fear. It will pass, eventually. Sharing will only cut the wound deeper, to us both. There is grief enough in this house.
