I asked @rookanis-de-riva to write what an invitation to the ball from Lucanis to Rook could possibly look like, and they did an incredible job of filling that hole that is in my heart. There's a longer version that they might upload onto their AO3.

RookFest Day 3: Faction & Family
Magnus never had any family. He doesn't know where he was born. His oldest records trace him back to the city of Carastes in Tevinter at the age of 3. That's when he was exchanged to Heskar Varinus, a merchant, as compensation for a blood debt. This man named him Liber and was interested in his emerging magical powers.
Varinus cultivated and trained this magic as a mean to expand his influence and climb up the social ladder of Tevinter. He was strict with Liber but never mistreated him. The servus helped him in his shop between his lessons with Master Fargus to handle his magic.
Everything changed when Liber was 12 and Varinus got murdered, most likely by a rival interested in his servus. Liber barely escaped the attempt with a nasty scar accross his left eye. He spent the next 3 years on the streets. It's around that time that he met Viago de Riva in Carastes. They crossed path when Liber was caught trying to steal a bread from a stall. The Crow settled things with the baker and took Liber with him. After a talk, the former servus acted as a guide to the assassin and, together, they took down a merchant at the center of a ring of slavers. Once the target was dealt with, Liber asked to Viago to take him with him. They left for Treviso the next day.
Among House de Riva, Liber chose the name Magnus. A Tevinter name as a reminder of where he came from but also underlying his partiularity as a Crow: at 15 yo, he was the tallest fledgeling Viago ever had to start training.
He built strong friendships among his House. And some occasional romance. But his past as an orphaned and lonely servus had left its mark on him and Magnus was always looking for a real connection. The one person that he could finally call his family and actually build one with. That person presented itself in the most unexpected way. From a favor for a favor among the Crows. For the First Talon no less. In the depths of an elven underwater ruin converted into a Venatori prison and laboratory. His meeting with Lucanis Dellamorte was the first step toward the family he'd been craving for years. While slowly falling for one another (Magnus first but Lucanis even harder), they took down the gods together. With the Evanuris gone, they now had all the time to build a life together, including taking Jacobus and the Egrativi orphans under their wings. What an incredible (and extremely dangerous) night! We loved seeing everyone's brackets and having hours long discussions over who would emerge victorious from this year's battle royale.

The lighthouse is brimming with life again and so many faces return with new stories to tell! But who can keep track? Don't you worry!
