I’m answering for my OC Embyr Rhys from Of Stones and Shadows :)

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory etc.)?

Name, then backstory. Appearance was last XD

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

No, she was the very first!

3. How did you choose their name?

Honestly Embyr just kind of popped into my head--I had a line of dialogue and a name, and that was it. Later I added Rhys simply because I liked it  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they lived in played the most influential parts?

The existence of magic, definitely, and also Embyr’s privileged life as princess of Lyssany :)

5. Is there any significance behind their hair color?

Nope! It just matched her Iranian heritage :)

6. Is there any significance behind their eye color?

See my answer to #5.

7. Is there any significance behind their height?

I stand by my statement: short is cute. But no, there’s no real significance there.

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

A huge part of Embyr’s character arc is realizing what it takes to be a leader and how (and why) to get there. Since I had to learn that lesson just a year or so ago, that really resonates with me.

9. Are they based off you in some way?

See my answer to #8.

10. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?

Yes. She is straight as a level.

11. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

Haha. I don’t draw, and I’ve yet to make an edit, so...writing is undoubtedly the hardest part of making art for/of Embyr. I haven’t really struggled with this aside from the occasional case of writer’s block, however.

12. How past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

I have (mentally) planned out an entire sequel set three or so months after the events of Of Stones and Shadows :D

13. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

1) Embyr is very, very protective of her loved ones. 2) But she’s also not a leader at all.

14. What is something about your OC that can make you laugh?

Honestly her whole relationship with her brother. This laughter varies from overpoweringly happy to grieving and slightly crazed.

15. What is something about your OC that can make you cry?

How scared she is and the pain she’s gone through/her future holds.

16. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

Not at the moment, no.

17. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

She truly thinks she is weak and fragile, but that’s so not true--she just can’t see it yet, poor baby <3

18. What is your favorite fact about your OC?

She is a precious cinnamon roll and my own little baby girl and...I’m rambling. (Specifics, Pixie, they want specifics....) Ahem. I really like that once she realizes she is stronger than she formerly believed, she refuses to give up.

I’m pretty sure I’ve done this one before for Embyr, so this time I’ll answer for...Garan! My baby <3 (Y’all probably expected that at this point, lol) If you have not yet been introduced to Garan (read: have not yet fallen prey to my frequent posts praising him), here’s a quick description. Enjoy! ;)

Well aware of his good looks and sharp wit, nineteen-year-old Garan has a (somewhat roguish) heart of gold. Fiercely protective of his kingdom and his family, especially his little sister, he strives to live up to expectations and better himself in general in order to be the best king he can. Currently unwed, he is a flirt at times but once his heart is captured, there’s no turning back.

Note: if I feel that a clarification needs to be made or that there is a question Garan cannot (fully) answer (or that it just needs some fun commentary!), then I’ll jump in--you’ll see my remarks marked with a “P” for Pixie :)

1) What is your full name?

G: I am Garan XIV, Crown Prince of Lyssany and King’s Heir.

2. What does your full name mean?

G: "Guardian.” My mother picked it.

P: In our world it’s Germanic in origin :)

3. What are your other names/nicknames?

G: I have no nicknames, really. I’m told my mother used to call me Gare before she passed away, but I have no memories of this since I was only three at the time. *sad smile*

P: *bursts into tears*

4. What is your gender?

G: Male.

5. What is your sexuality?

G: *shifts uncomfortably* I’d prefer to keep this to myself, thank you. *shifts again*

P: *snorts*

6. Where are you from?

G: I hail from the agrarian kingdom of Lyssany *smiles proudly* in the world of Noväe, specifically the Silver City.

7. How old are you?

G: Nineteen (19).

P: *squeals* See?! Perfect big-brother material!

8. What is your magic form/what species are you?

G: I’m sorry, you must have the wrong person. Magic is forbidden in the Seven Kingdoms--it is far too dangerous. I may be human, but I am certainly no mage. *sets jaw firmly, crossing arms across chest*

P: Yes, magic is very bad *winks*

9. What does your human form look like?

G: Uh...tall? I guess? Perhaps handsome. I’m not sure what--

P: *snickers and fawns all at once* Garan is ridiculously handsome and highly aware of the fact. Tall, muscular, dark-haired, olive-skin-a-shade-darker-than-his-sister’s-ed (think Iranian heritage), the works. See here:

10. What’s your aesthetic?

G: My--what? Do you mean my royal seal, or my coat of arms? Because--

P: Hush, Garan. His aesthetic is hands clasped around a sword hilt, clenched fists, laughing smile, royal blue, silver, signet ring, crown, a white stallion.

11. Who’s your best friend?

G: Well, my sister, obviously. We’ve always been close. Although my father’s cousin Merrick is a close second.

P: *mumbles laughingly* Soon to be a close third, haha.

G: What was that?

P: Nothing!

12. Would you ever get a piercing/tattoo?

G: Piercing? No. And I like to tease my sister that I already have a tattoo: she accidentally gave me a scar when she was twelve. It was kind of my fault, since I’m the one who proposed to teach her to use a knife, but.... *shrugs*

13. When are you happiest?

G: I’m not sure, actually. I tend to be a pretty happy person. Probably when I’m riding my stallion, or spending time with my family. *soft smile*

P: *laughs, then whispers as an aside where he can’t hear* He has no idea what his story holds!

14. What’s your biggest secret?

G: Maybe you should redefine your definition of a secret.... o_O

15. What was your first impression of [Ragnar]?

G: Oh, that b--

P: Language, dear.

G: But he of all people deserves--

P: Garan.

G: Yes ma’am. *sighs* Emotionally, my first impression of him was of shock and bewilderment--how in the world had he managed to get past the guards? Where was my sister and was she safe? What could I do? He himself looked like any mud-spattered farmer in from the fields, excepting the green sparks seething around his fists. That’s when I realized he was a mage.
