Remember the Amtrak Phase I SDP40F drew back in December 2024? I thought about it and I decided to draw my favorite American diesel locomotive in Amtrak's phase III scheme.

While pulling the Eastbound California Zephyr through Donner Pass, Amtrak F40PHs 249, 305, and 243, assisted by Southern Pacific SD40T-2 8314, urge onwards as they confront the storm. The harsh winter weather serves as a reminder of when the snowbound City of San Francisco train got stuck for several days during one of the worst blizzards of the 20th century.
