Marley Road, Yet Again
Following up on the previous post, here's another couple of shots from Marley Road east of New Lenox, Illinois. Again, this is the former Rock Island Railroad.
I took the top photograph—of either the Quad Cities or Peoria Rocket—here as a teenager; I went back in 2018 (not pictured) and again today, in 2025.
Two images by Richard Koenig; taken September 5th 1976 and May 2nd 2025.

Greater Chicago Regional Rail, 2026
Since the South Shore Line's Monon Corridor is opening this week, I figured it's time to make an updated map of Chicago's regional rail! Compared to my 2018 map, I've removed the CTA and added both Amtrak and the full South Shore Line, and this now shows the new fare zones. It's striking to see just how small the Monon Corridor is relative to the rest of the network, but it's still cool to see that it's possible for the US to build new electric regional rail.
