Riding High with Emerald Heavy
Doomed & Stoned's Pick Of The Week
By Billy Goate (Editor in Chief)
Holy Goate is this excellent! The new EMERALD HEAVY has arrived and it crushes utterly and finally everything in its path!. Moments of meditation (a pinch o' Sleep) mixed with ultra-fuzzy, filthy sludge (a little EHG) with southern touches (some Weedeater) and that oh-so sweet, low-tuned, buzzzzzing DOOM (vibes of Dopethrone) makes the Hattiesburg, Mississippi four's latest album Under The Mountain (2015 - Already Dead Tapes & Records) an instant classic, in my book - with dozens of quotable lyric moments.
AD184 Emerald Heavy 'Under the Mountain' by Already Dead Tapes and Records
Vicious and vindictive, this one is like fine, aged whiskey that you'll keep coming back to again and again for your high. You can tell the guys poured heart, sweat, soul, and fire into the writing and production of this record. All I need now is the BBQ and age bourbon and a little green on a mild October night in the deep south to complete the picture. Emerald Heavy's new LP is a triumph, finding a well-deserved place on our elite list of the Heavy Best '15.
