EJ really didn't like his singing voice when he was younger. His father always said that musical theater wasn't the 'Caswell Way', so he hid it. Until, one day, he saw a banner for a sleepaway theater camp. He finally had his chance to prove his father wrong.

Omg aweeeeeee. I'm getting lowkey camp rock vibes from this one. EJ growing up hating his singing voice has so much angst potential. Honestly I grew up hating my singing voice - the amount of hurt that boy would've went through.

It could also be a reason why he's a jerk. He grew up making himself hate theater. EJ was ten when he started hating theater, and began teasing Ashlyn over it too thus separating their relationship.
