Spoilers for the new Overwatch Webtoon this week:
The characterization of Emre, Freja and Chernobog in this week’s episode was super, super interesting. Emre trying so hard to be diplomatic and nonviolent. He never picks his weapon back up, doesn’t attack at all. Recognizes Pharah, but she never acknowledges recognizing either Emre or Freja. She fires on them without hesitation or remorse, seemingly. Freja only fights back in self defense, and even then she aims for nonlethal spots (Sierra’s legs, cartwheel nonwithstanding) with a less-than-lethal weapon, and just tries to incapacitate with her bola like last time. Chernobog doesn’t interfere this whole time. Doesn’t even manifest another weapon for Emre. Whether that’s tremendous restraint, or dare I say trust in them to handle things their way… It doesn’t step in until the Overwatch agents try to blow them up / bury them in rubble, and we don’t see Freja again after that point…
Either way, much to think about, and I eagerly hope for an interaction (or two?) about this with the midseason patch next week.
