Have yet to see a self-styled benevolent dictator of change take on Iconoclast out there. It must exist for someone but it's sad to see so many things that Aren't that. Like, I've been around a some would-be young revolutionaries before who have a concept of how to repair the world that involves seizing control with the chosen few and fixing it no matter what others want or what price has to be paid. It feels like an excellent basis for Iconoclast, the "history will vindicate my actions" tyrant who wants to revolutionize the world as fast as possible and believes that only they have the vision to see it through. Someone who knows the scale of harm they do and embraces it, because putting down that power they have or trying to just slowly push the status quo somewhere better without thinking about the hurt they cause would both be options that couldn't save enough people in the theoretical long run. Do you understand what I mean? Is this character out there. I want to meet them

I have to say after finishing Iconoclast I am a little baffled by some of the perspectives on its ending I've seen. Do most people like. Not pick up Nomos? The slides conflict a bit, but it high key seems like that didn't end with collapse and failure, it ended with successful severance from the Imperium backed by a godlike entity keeping them out, the near destruction of the local navy, and the persistent spread of new heresies back in the Imperium. Your divine buddy seems to do a lot of murdering people who try to undo all the "maybe we should improve things somewhat" things and fear drives the loyalists into submission. I had gotten the impression this was more of a candle in the wind ending, not one where you stack up a million Ws and create the galactic center of elf sex. Perplexing. With all that said as a first impression here Heretic felt a lot more narratively coherent; I think Iconoclast definitely winds up demanding a lot more picking and choosing what happened and what didn't and how you stitch together a lot of things that don't seem to make sense together without a lot of filling in blanks. I can see how this just naturally creates a lot of diverging interpretations, especially when it seems like a lot of people playing this route cleave Dogmatic in some significant areas.

Any thoughts I have on the character aside I think it's awesome that Rogue Trader hands you a companion whose name can be easily nicknamed to Ricky. It is a struggle to call him anything else sometimes. My torture cop handler Ricky. Rick. Rickinator. The Rickster. Rickoroni. Rick'n'roll. Rickamaroo. Tyrannosaurus Ricks.

RT has really sent me back to my fandom roots (selfcest)

After fooling around a little over the weekend I have really been feeling it on my potential convictionless run of RT being psyker Balthazar. I think there's potential for a fun arc there from being someone meek who's never done more than try to survive and keep his head down to a ruthless, calculating Rogue Trader who revels in notoriety. Theodora's ideal heir. My first guy to have feelings about her that are complicated but overall positive.
