I haven't had many thoughts on it yet but emi/minori sounds so interesting bc. girl who's been sticking around mean girls and trying to fit in with them? plus a mean girl who's probably going to have a rough time trying to change when she's so used to bullying and taking advantage? I think making them interact would cause Interesting Things to occur
yes definitely! it’s kind of a similar idea to how i was thinking of emi n tsubomi, how their characters are grounded so much in their ideas of socialization. like how tsubomi is popular and does think her friends would judge her, but also tends to march to the beat of her own drum anyway. how emi considers herself kind of empty, and says “sure. rip it all apart.” even about the things she loves, because she’s trying to fit into a mold. i think there’s something fun there
emi and minori are especially interesting to me because it kinda raises the question… when is this? is it post-mogami? because then we get minori, who is trying to be better presumably, and runs into this girl with such a unique personality and talent but tries to fit in anyway... a chance to make things right, maybe? a chance for minori to step back, and try to change? meanwhile emi is so non-confrontational over her own friends behavior, so she probably wouldn’t volunteer her thoughts if minori ever hurt her feelings… emi who wonders if she even has any feelings…
it also makes me think of how minori’s behavior in mogamiland was tied to that idea of “assert dominance so no one messes with you”, if you’re the bully then you’ll never get bullied… vs how emi tends to shut down and go cold over it all, she throws away her own feelings in the name of fitting in… hmmm hmhm. i like it a lot…
it makes me wonder why emi is so willing to put herself aside to not cause issues with her friends. she clearly has passion and interests, but she also relates to mob as if neither of them have feelings at all. i wonder which came first? her sense of hollowness, or swallowing her own heart to fit the mold?
