Hey Friends! My first post on how to color: transparencies, spirits, and holograms. My Birthday gift you all! ❤️ This is my process. Everyone does it differently. There is no wrong or right way. You have to find what works for you and for the line art. The first set of is from UNCANNY XMEN #1, drawn by Mahmud Asrar. First Video: The first thing I do is usually color what ever is underneath the transparency. In this case, Hisako/Armor. Second Video: Next I added a color hold to the lines of her “armor”/ or the part that will be transparent. Third Video: I add a layer OVER the line art and set it to Hard Light. I SELECT all the transparent pieces and add the color that I want the transparency to be. Then I adjust the opacity. **Note: Steps 2 and 3 can be interchangeable. Fourth Video: I added a second HARD LIGHT layer, and played around with rendering of her armor. In the end I didn’t keep it, but for those of you coloring spirits or even holograms, this can be something to help add a little more dimension. Next we have, DR APHRA pages by the AMAZING Emilio Laiso! I just did scene shots of this. Some artists will add transparencies, in this case, holograms on a separate layer. Which makes life SO EASY. !st Screenshot: I colored the entire background. 2nd Screenshot: I added in Emilio’s hologram line art. 3rd Screenshot: A little hard to see here, but I added some extra texture for the hologram. It’s set on an OVERLAY setting so not to distract from the line art texture, too much. 4th Screenshot: Added a layer over the line art set to HARD LIGHT and since we are working with Star Wars.. all holograms are blue, added in a blue color on top, and reduced the opacity.
