"You don’t have to be embarrassed, sweetheart. I’ll take care of you.”

Please meet Matthew Saunders
Matt doesn’t know where he was born or even his exact birthday. In early childhood, a group of neighbourhood teens found him deep in the woods where they were hanging out, completely alone and hungry. Fortunately, they were a goodhearted group of kids and got him immediate medical attention. The hospital ballparked his age around five. He was completely non-verbal for the first year but otherwise was almost terrifyingly docile. That did not last. The authorities plastered his picture everywhere but no one came forward to indicate they recognized him or could identify where he was born or who his family might be.
A year after entering foster care, he was adopted and officially renamed. He is forever grateful to his adoptive family for the simple fact of their consistent love and support. While in his teens he struggled, therapy and the occasional medical prescription to deal with his anxiety and depression provided him the supports he needed to process his thoughts and feelings over his apparent abandonment.
Matt turned the fact that he was a mystery into a lifetime of pursuit of truth. Investigative journalism was his stock and trade. He had infiltrated gangs and warlord camps in foreign countries. He had been places and seen things unlike most of his small town family.
However, he is now headed home to investigate a new mystery. In those same woods where his story began was just found a little girl. Also non-verbal. Also about five years old. The strangest part of all - she was found exactly 25 years to the day after he had been found. What did it all mean? Was it connected or a coincidence? Either way, Matt was going to find out.

Ragnar was not much for kidnapping people. That wasn’t something he did often, or not anymore, anyway. He was King, and they had gotten back from Frankia, and he’s survived his brush with death. When he had awakened, he had been surprised and slightly annoyed, but as time went on, he could tell that his wound was still giving him problems. He didn’t want to turn to anyone about it. He and Floki were still not on good terms, but one of his people mentioned a woman that had been taken. She was being used as slave now, but had been a healer. After hearing what she looked like and where to find her, he approached the hut she’d been given, and knocked.
He could feel the pain and he leaned on the stick he’d been using for some time now, to walk. He’d be grateful if she could help, somehow.
Change of Plans/Nick & Emily
Placing his lighter down on the small coffee table, Nick took a long drag off the cigarette he'd just lit. The man who hired him, Charles Buchanan, was not the first famous person to pay for his services. Nick served in the German military and found he was superior at sniping. When he decided not to reenlist, it was hard for him to find work. NOt because he wasn't good at whatever he put his mind to but when you killed as many people as Nick had, you're never quite the same. A friend turned him on to the idea of being a killer for hire. Not the best of headspace for a man that woke up nightly drenched in sweat seeing the faces of every person he'd ever killed but of all the things he'd ever done in his life this is where he thrived.
The money was good as well. He could take out s few people a year and spend the rest of his time trying to drink away his memories. This never worked, but at least he called the shots. It helped, as well, that he did not have to be social. Conversations were not his strong suit. When Senator Buchanan, the representative from the great state of North Carolina summoned Nick he was to go to the estate in the dark of the night. The request was easy. Find a woman by the name of Emily Brooks and eliminate her.
Nick hardly cared about why he was being hired. There were a certain number of questions so he knew what he was up against but for the most part, the man was in and out of the city within hours of the hit. He'd been asked to assassinate females before but most were political adversaries in countries that didn't have such all-encompassing laws. Nick was pretty indifferent to the United States but he liked it more than his home country. There were days he missed Munich but the life he had there was over. Buchanan explained to him the whys of the request and basically, this woman sounded like a drugged-out psycho. The hit would cost the senator a pretty penny.
Sitting in a hotel room now looking out toward the second tower the pale light outside allowed Nick to see right into Miss Brooks' room. She was pacing, wringing her hands and for as well as he could see that far away - he would say she was biting her lip. Summarized, she looked nervous. The senator made her sound like a lunatic but she acted more like a rat in a cage. Chances were she was jonesing for a hit. He watched the woman startled by a knock on the door. When the lengthy man walked in he handed Emily a small package. From what he gathered next, she did not have money to pay for whatever the Mexican was delivering and she attempted to seduce him but that was not going over well.
Something within Nick was not happy about watching his mark get beaten to death by this drug dealer. Sure, the guy could have made him an easy million, but Nick's plan was to shoot her in the head - quick, painless and not so fucking messy. This guy would attract all kinds of attention to Buchanan if he killed her this way. Surely the media would run wild with the beating death of the senators known associate. "Fuck me," he whispered, grabbing his Glock 43 and checking to see if there was one in the chamber. Osprey in his jacket pocket he exited his tower and entered hers. The door wasn't all the shut, lucky for him but surprising that hotel management had not been called. Nick stepped in, screwed the silencer on the gun and put one in the back of the bean eaters head. "Filthy spick," he mumbled under his breath.

Playtime is Over / Vin & Emily
In the coming weeks, Vin found it increasingly difficult to sleep. He knew there was something big going on. Several of RF's top council had been sent up to Idaho and there was a lot of buzz but no real information. Rumor had it there were people trying to infiltrate Vegas to spy for the old woman and it had everyone mistrusting any faces they didn't know. There were plenty of people in Vegas, so enough strangers to give anyone anxiety but what really freaked Vin out was the fact that the man only known as Trash had disappeared. Rumor had it he was a pyro so what that meant for Vegas could be nothing but the uncertainty kept everyone talking.
To make matters worse, Vin kept having odd dreams. Not like in the beginning when everyone started dropping like flies or even when RF came for him. The old woman wasn't in them and neither was his savior. Almost every night he dreamed he and Emily were no longer in Vegas together. Every dream was as vivid was a spring day, yet each one took place someplace else. As if that weren't creepy enough, in his dream Emily was pregnant and Vin was positive the child was his.
After a long day of checking borders, drug users were few and far between now, all Vin wanted was a hot shower and some time with her. He needed to ask her if she had been dreaming too. As he entered the lobby Lloyd was talking with Julie and Rat Man. Vin did not like Julie. She was obnoxious and reminded him of the whores on the corner, back in Hollywood. Typically he would try to avoid her but he heard someone say one of the girls was pregnant and Vin's ears perked. He tried hard to hear who the girl was while waiting for the elevator but the name never escaped their mouths.
As the elevator rose to the Skywing, where the restaurant was all Vin knew was he needed to find Emily and fast. There was not telling what RF would do if she was knocked up. RF didn't strike Vin as a family man, even with the rumors he had a wife. She wasn't in the lounge, so he made his way to her room, praying for the first real time in his life that she was in there alone. Knocking hard on the door, "Emily, are you in there? We need to talk now!"

Just by how this guy spoke, Ivan knew there was something off. Who in their right mind brings their woman along to a deal, to smear it in their faces that she was his. Why would Ivan care in the least of what tart was on this mans arm? Marco stared off to the side, a dull bored look etched on his face. His fingers were lifted up to scratch the side of his brow, “Well tha’s lovely innit? Ye don’t use yer hand fer shite, now do yah?” He gave the stranger a crooked, sly grin, “But it more than likely tells us tha’ ye pay fer sex, ye jus’ use this lass right here as an easydistraction.” Ivan looked to his comrade, nodding his head slightly, “Took tha word right outta m’mouth.” He muttered, turning his head to look towards the blond. “No offense, miss, but this isutterly unprofessional.” It was a verbal slap in the face to the male. He could tell this gentlemenwas the type to throw a tantrum if he wasn’t given what he thought he was entitled to.
Catching the signals the woman was making, the subtle lifted chin gave Marco the indication that he should look up. Carefully he lifted his eyes towards the high support beams, his brows raising slightly as he caught the slightest glint of metal. Someone came with chrome. Marco nudge his partners elbow, his hands twitching barely before he pulled his guns from their holsters. Ivan followed the others movements, aiming right at the couple as Marco had his raised up towards the suits.
“See wha’ y’all don’t know ‘bout us,” Ivan growled lowly as he spoke, his eyes turning an ink black, “we don’ do well wit’ bein’ set up.” Marco chuckled softly, his own eyes casting a reflective glare as his muscles and bone began to crack and twist under his skin. “Ye get tha’ skirt on outta here ‘fore we retaliate, Ive.” His voice was audible to the immortal, “ ‘ll take care o’ her. Get tha’ bastards up there.” Ivan began to stomp his way towards the one he had meant to deal with, the look of fury written clearly over his face.
