If you're up for a group reading of one of the most intricate, exhilarating, and clever stories out there--we're discussing every other Sunday at 9:30 to 10:30 Pacific time (12:30-13:30 in the Eastern US; 17:30 in the UK; 18:30-19:30 in Europe).

From the story:
The violin is a retreat that eases the quiet of Sherlock Holmes' solitude. It also speaks for him when he cannot bridge the gaps his defenses create. Moments when music helps Sherlock reach out or let others in, like his stalwart flatmate and, in time, the doctor's daughter.
Five+ times Sherlock Holmes played the violin, and one time he did not.

Rec: This beautifully written fic bridges the years from Sherlock’s childhood through living with (and without) John. While the first 4 chapters are more loosely connected, from chapter 5 on, a fully fledged post-series 4 seasonal holiday story emerges of healing, resolution, and love.
This fic is definitely underrated at the moment, with fewer than 100 kudos. I imagine some people are giving up before the main plot begins, but I promise if you stick with it, all of the previous scenes become relevant and reveal a marvelously planned arc that really delivers on the emotions.

This wonderful story captured my heart in an instant. Such a beautiful language interwoven with music and all possible emotions elicited by it. This story really resonated with me; in the truest sense of the word. A treasure.
( @keirgreeneyes I hope you're okay with the moodboard and @totallysilvergirl thank you for pointing me to this fantastic story! 🎼🎻💗)
I got ambushed by a fic yesterday that entered my dreams and got me up early.
Emilycare's Caesura gives separate moments of Sherlock's history with the violin and the way it's mediated through different people and different music.
SIX chapters are up now, each moving and compelling. The characters and the soundscape are beautifully written. Supposed to be a 5+1 but I hope for a 10+1 or a 20+1.

Summary:
The look on Peter's face was...pained, perhaps, but not...pain. In a flash, Emile recognised it as hunger, and he suddenly understood: he’s been waiting exactly as long as I have.
A matching hunger rushed through Emile, as their years apart disappeared, and the longing he’d felt in the village returned to him. The grime and distress of the battlefield fell from him and he was just a young man, infatuated with his brilliant friend. His confidant. His companion. He’d been waiting so long for this. He felt a wild grin pulling at his face. This was right.
***
This was madness, because tomorrow they would face each other, all unseeing, across the blasted battlefield. Either man might fire the shot that killed the other. This night was stolen, and about to end.
Peter and Emile, friends since boyhood, meet on opposite sides of the Great War. They steal one night to explore what might have been...
I read this story today and can only say that it is magnificent. I bet you need it too.
(Words: 246,793 Chapters: 38/58, E) Down on his luck John Watson answers an advert for a paid role in an experimental play. Enter William Scott with a most unusual proposition: help him test run a two person immersive experience, oh and by the way there is sex and romance involved.
And it’s back! After a brief hiatus, this amazing story continues. Extraordinarily intricate and clever plotting make this fic shine above so many of the other stories currently unfolding in the fandom. If you are a regular reader, prepare to be wowed by the next batch of chapters. If this is new to you, hop on board now; it’s not to be missed!
