I write this as I watch the postman collect and deliver our letters. How curious to watch him bear so lightly what will weigh on my soul until the unknown amount of time passes
Again, I aim to merely preserve my writing that I might come back and pour over it in frustration...
A Door just opened on a street —
I — lost — was passing by —
An instant's Width of Warmth disclosed —
And Wealth — and Company.
The Door as instant shut — And I —
I — lost — was passing by —
Lost doubly — but by contrast — most —
Informing — misery —
I write here, not for a sense of beginning a thing that might come to bear fruit, but for fear of its quickly withering leaves and rapidly waning blossoms. Much like the careful act of pressing flowers for the herbarium, I lay prose and thought here.
At the advice of The Abolitionist I should ‘charge my prose with life.’ I had not thought my prose to be dead, or lay dying until they, and my ‘general air’ were described as bleak. Brother follows father greatly in a scorn for ‘sensibilities’ and my poetry, which I have not shared at will, is described by him as ‘muddled’ and ‘full of whining’

As much as I love Summer and the beautiful weather that comes with it, I personally can’t wait until Autumn. Hitting the beach and rocking your short shorts can be good but my powers are definitely strongest with scary movies, falling leaves and halloween sweets - and I’ve always loved pumpkins! Another thing I love about when it gets cooler is the fashion. Finally, it’s time for lots of warm layers, my favourite leather boots and, as a halloween lover, I adore letting it get a little spooky with lots of American Horror Story Coven inspired attire - I can’t wait. However, if you’re stuck in your summer ways, you might need a little hand knowing the must-haves for the season. So, here you go! My top 5 Autumn must haves.
A quirky hat. There’s nothing that makes me feel happier and more stylish than wearing a hat and there is no better time than Autumn to get one. Whether you feel like rocking a casual beanie or, my personal favourite, a floppy black fedora, a hat can change an outfit completely and, in my opinion, it just finishes off an outfit.
A cute dress. If you’re not someone who wants to go for the full on witch-look, then this one is for you. Buying a cute, floral dress (like this one) and pairing it with woolly tights and a chunky cardigan can give a girly twist to keeping warm. Also, topping it off with a pair of heeled brogues gives a very classy touch!
A felt coat. As well as keeping you super warm, this is a timeless style piece. Pair it with a floral dress or with black skinny jeans for two completely different, yet equally stylish looks. Remember to keep warm when it starts to get chilly - coats can be cute as hell so make the most of the cold weather.
Socks. They’re definitely underrated. Wearing some cute knee high socks (or even layering them up!) can really add to an outfit - and they’re absolutely adorable! Don’t be afraid to wear some over your tights as that can look super good - and patterns can add to a cutesy girly look.
Scarves. One of my favourite thing about Autumn is being able to hide in a pile of scarves. Not only do they keep you toasty and warm but they’re fashionable too. My favourite place to get a cute scarf is Accessorize or Topshop, so definitely check them out!
You may not want to lose the rest of your summer just yet, but don’t let that stop you getting excited about Fall. Also, you can get cheap winter bargains in stores during the summer season so go wild and enjoy the rest of your summer!
