Mothers deserve so much not just on Mother’s Day but every day. . . They deserve our hearts, our love, and our appreciation. I was blessed with an amazing mom and a mother in love. They both are beautiful women of God whom I love so much and or grateful for everyday. . . For those of you who are parents we often say that our children are gifts from God. In a similar way we can see our mothers as God’s gift to us too How?? They nurtured us. Cared for us. Fed us. Clothed us. Changed us. Bathed us. Held us in our best moments and in our darkest, hardest, and most painful moments. When we could do nothing, they did everything. Truly mothers are gift from God. But I know not everyone has had the same experience I have had. Maybe some of you didn’t have a good experience with your mother’s or you were raised in a broken home, . .one thing I want you to remember no matter what the past has been like ….God chose your mother to play a vital role in your life and that was bring you into this world. That’s huge . . think about that! You wouldn’t be reading this today if it were not for your mother. Even if your relationship has soured with your mom. . . she is the one that brought you into this world. That’s something you can be grateful for today. . . “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you." Isaiah 66:13 . I meant to post this last Sunday and forgot but better late than never. There are two phrases you can choose to say: “What if?” or “I know!” . . What IF I get sick? What if this goes on too long? What if the economy crashes? What if I can’t pay my bills? What if the there is no food? What if there is Marshall law? What if there are riots? . . I KNOW God is alive! I KNOW God is our healer! I KNOW that God is still in control! I KNOW God is our provider! I KNOW that God is faithful, true and just I KNOW He doesn’t break His promises I KNOW His love is never ending I KNOW the end of story no matter what happens tomorrow .. next week or next month. . . “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” Luke 12:22-26 . . The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 . . So we shouldn’t worry because God will take care of the big stuff & the little stuff. Asking WHAT if or worrying doesn’t change things, big or small, except to make those problems appear worse than they really are. So why let ourselves get so worked up into a frenzy over all the things? SO cast your cares on God and then trust in His wisdom and trust that His Word is true! Palm Sunday is a very important day to Christians around the world because it marks the beginning of Holy Week, that very monumental, never to be forgotten day when Jesus began His journey toward the cross. . Yet so very often because of busy lives and many activities around the celebrating of Easter, the importance and significance of this special day often gets missed. The Bible reminds us how there's such great meaning in every single part of Jesus' story, that points us and directs us towards our need for a Savior. In each of the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we find the story of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The people cut palm branches and waved them in the air, then laid them out on the ground before Him as He rode into the city on a donkey. Palm branches represent goodness and victory, symbolic of the final victory Jesus would soon fulfill over sin and death. But one thing we need to remember is that no one knew the full story that was soon to unfold. One thing they did know on that day was that they longed to give worship and praise to Jesus. “A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed were shouting: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!” When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” Matthew 21:8-10 That day was filled with was filled with excitement. The people were cheering and shouting and trying to get a glimpse of Jesus. They cried out, "Hosanna!" hailing Christ as King. The word Hosanna means "to save now," and though in their own minds they eagerly waited for an earthly king, but little did they know that God had a totally different plan in store. God was providing a way to set us free…eternally. This is the exactly why we celebrate Holy Week. Who would of thought a month ago that the whole world would be experiencing exactly the same thing at the same time. I know I sure didn’t but one horrible virus has done just that. . . In a weird way the virus has brought us all closer together even though we are social isolating and in quarantine. I’ve never felt closer to my family, friends, and even my online friends I have never met before than I do today. I think we all took each other for granted for so long we now look at relationships with totally different eyes and a totally different mindset. I know I’m so thankful for technology that we can see and talk to each other even though we can’t be near one another. . . Another thing this virus has done is drawn me closer to Jesus but I do have to admit that over the last few weeks I have had a few cry sessions when I really start to think about what we are all living through. After I have had my time to shed some tears the Lord always reminds me that even if we get overwhelmed with what’s going on He is there in the midst of us. We have to continue to trust Him all all times. . . When I start to get overwhelmed I like to listen and sing a song by @BethelMusic called “God, I Look To You”. It totally changes my mood and sets my heart and my eyes on Him instead of the situation. Turning my eyes to God in these times have brought so much comfort and peace. Here are few of the lyrics. . . "God, I look to You, I won't be overwhelmed Give me vision to see things like You do God I look to You, You're where my help comes from Give me wisdom, You know just what to do And I will love You, Lord, my strength I will love You, Lord, my shield I will love You, Lord, my rock forever All my days I will love You, God” . . Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” . . Look to Jesus! Draw near to Him! He will bring you peace in the midst of the storm. . . I’ve sat at my kitchen table all morning trying to decide what to share this morning for my weekly Sunday faith post. I’ve gone back and forth about what I want to convey in my message. The one thing that keeps coming to my mind is Faith over Fear. With all the chaos that’s going on globally due to COVID-19 we are seeing fear rise up, emotions flare and panic set in. When watching or listening to the news it’s so easy to fall into one of those things. We can let fear and panic set in instead of taking a deep breath, calming our minds and letting faith take hold. I’m not sure what you believe as far as God but I want you to know that He is real and He is the One you can turn to in times of fear, anxiety, panic, worry and stress. He is the Ultimate Peace Giver and Comforter! . . More than ever we need to come together as a nation and set our differences aside and unite! Unite in prayer! Praying for an end to this virus! Praying for those who have it to overcome it. Praying for the first responders who are on the front lines! Praying for the our government leaders and the medical science community for the Lord to give them direction and guidance on how to handle this crisis. . . Unite in helping one another! Taking care and checking in on the elderly to see if they heed anything. As a mom of five I know my children are watching to see my reaction to all of this. I want them to see me taking it seriously but also putting my trust and faith in God to see us through. . . We as a nation can adhere to what experts are recommending: Washing our hands, wiping down solid surfaces with disinfectant, wiping down door knobs, doing social distancing until this thing is over, eating healthy food, getting good rest, drinking A LOT of water etc. I think it’s also good to get outside and walk around as long as you are not in a crowded place. I feel so much better getting outdoors and breathing in the fresh air. . . Lastly, Psalm 91 is a powerful chapter in the Bible to pray over you and your family. I encourage you to personalize it as you read and pray through it. What are you USING your life for? 🤷🏻‍♀️💜 . . The Bible says in Psalm 90:10 “Seventy years are given to us! Some may even reach eighty. But even the best of these years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we are gone.” . . Ask yourself these questions - Are you HAPPY? . . Do you have PEACE? . . Are you ENJOYING your LIFE?. . . What are the MOST IMPORTANT things in your LIFE? . . What are your PLANS for the FUTURE? (Do you have any?) . . Where is GOD in your PRIORITY LIST? . . Life is short ....here today and gone tomorrow. Don't waste one day you have been give. Our time on the earth is just a speck compared to eternity. What are you living for today? . . "Where as you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? Are you hiding behind something that is not allowing your dreams or desires to come to fruition? . . I think many of us have dreams living inside us but we hide behind things that keep them locked up. What are the things that you are hiding behind? Is is fear? Is it insecurity? Is it fear of man? Is it lack of confidence and boldness? Are you afraid of what others might think? . . I’ll tell you a short story about myself. My husband and I have been in full time ministry for 33 years. We have been youth pastors, founders of an evangelistic ministry, senior pastors and now Executive Directors of a ministry and training center. Growing up and through my life I have always loved fashion and style. I also have had the desire to do print work and television but life took a different turn. I remember about 20 years ago first watching QVC and HSN for the first time and thinking how fun it would be to show and talk about fashion. Throughout the years I always dreamed about being a host but getting married, birthing & raising 5 children and being in full time ministry put that dream aside. . . Then about 6 years ago my sister @stephaniewottring encouraged me to start posting my outfits on Instagram. She told me that I had knack at putting outfits together and that I could possibly inspire other women when it came to style. I thought she was crazy. First of all, what would people think? What would people say? Would they think I was showing off? I was in ministry. How could I talk about fashion and not Jesus. I hid behind all the “what if’s” . . I finally decided to do a 30 day style challenge that my sister had found. She said, “Just try it for 30 days!” So, I came out of hiding and started posting. At the end of the month I had started to meet amazing women that were also posting their outfits and guess what . . . .many of them were in ministry just like me. There were worship leaders, pastors wives, youth pastors, worship directors & more. I also met amazing stay at home moms & women in the workforce. Many of these ladies I’m still connected with today! In this present age we live in we are surrounded by things that can trigger stress, anxiety, worry and fear. . Research shows that more people today are dealing with these type of things on a daily basis. I know turning on the news can bring instant anxiety! Things like the Corona Virus, Politics, Earthquakes and more can be enough to send us into the heights of stress. . It’s so important to take time each day to keep yourself centered by shutting off the noise that is all around us and to just be still. . I love waking up really early in the morning when the house if quiet and have an hour of no sound. It’s in that hour I converse with God while my head is clear. Talking to Him about things that are on my heart. Sharing with Him the things that I’m worried or fearful about. Taking that hour to just be still does wonders as I begin my day. . I like to make a cup of hot green tea and then sit in silence. I then ask myself what’s stressing me out? What’s causing anxiety? What is causing fear to rise in me? I then take those things to God asking Him for direction, guidance and healing in those areas. . If you are dealing with all things and with the chaos in this world and it seems like it’s too much to bear, let me encourage you to take some time each morning and just be still. Then pour your heart and troubles out to the Lord. He will pour out His peace, comfort and encouragement as He wraps His loving arms around you. Try it! I promise you, you will feel better. You will feel the anxiety and stress and worry leave. . 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” . Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” . The Lord cares for you and about what you are going through or dealing with so talk to Him. I like calling prayer conversations with God. I talk to Him like I talk to a friend because that’s what He is a friend like no other. .
