But how do you think it would affect them? Specially if their son was young when he died, specially by what we’ve seen in the perfectionists and the twins being a lot older in your fanfic timeline? I mean relationship wise
Realistically, a lot of the time when a child dies…the parents end up having major problems. I can’t speak for anything on The Perfectionists, because I haven’t seen beyond episode 2, so I don’t really how the personalities of Alison/Emily would be (from what I’ve heard, Alison seems really OOC in the series?).
I do think there would be some major strain between them. I could see one blaming the other (which tends to happen in grief). I could see Alison lashing out, which tends to be her go-to move when she’s hurting. And I could see Emily internalizing and overcompensating in other aspects of her life, which is exactly what her character does in the books/show. In the books, just the thought of her baby being in danger sent her careening into a dangerous situation without so much as a second thought about herself. In the series, it was blatantly obvious that she never talked about her feelings. She used unhealthy coping mechanisms.
I could see a lot of crying. I could see the twins fighting, blaming one another, and then eventually finding out that they need each other to get through it.
