“A wonderful question! But requires a very long story… So I hope you brought snacks! And here’s a little photo Fidds and I when we were in college, the first night we met in our dorms!”
“Fiddleford and I were college dormmates throughout our years. When we initially started our own relationship, we were very hesitant to express so anywhere outside our dorm. Our college had prior history of not liking anyone who preferred the same gender…”
“You can just say we were gay, Stanford.”
“Alright, fine Fidds, we were gay… Anyways, to prevent getting found out and potentially having our college educations ripped from us, we pretended to be in relationships with women. For a long time it was just a few flings here and there, some dates, but no relationship really stuck. Until, that is, Fiddleford met Emma.
Prior to meeting Emma, neither of us had even considered that liking both women and men was an option. So you can imagine my surprise when Fiddleford burst into the dorm in tears about loving us both and not wanting to lose either.”
“I never told Emma bout us neither, which was a mistake on my part because it created a lot of confusion later down the line.”
“It was only when I met her in person that I realized what Fiddleford had meant when he said he loved her. Emma is perfect in every way! Of course any man with any sense would fall for her! But none of us understood anything about polyamorous relationships, so I gave Fiddleford an out. I told him he could leave me, and continue to date Emma.
He was very against the idea, but eventually agreed and went on to later marry Emma officially. With me as his best man. The rest of our college years went smoothly, me pretending to just be Fidds’ long time best friend and not his ex boyfriend.
Eventually, and we really should have seen it coming, Emma figured out our relationship through old polaroids Fidds and I took.”
“I was terrified at first. I thought my husband, who’d I’d just married three months prior, had been cheatin. I was scared and angry, and I took it out on Stanford. He reassured me that they hadn’t done anythin, and while I still wasn’t happy, I was relieved.
I drilled into the poor man, squeezed every last answer outta him about what had been going on. Eventually, he spit out about the act to date women to deter suspicion, and later confessed he still had feelings for Fiddleford, even after they had separated.
By then I just felt more guilty and just… bad. When I talked to Fidds about it, he confessed he loved us both, and never wanted to choose. He just thought it was what was best for everyone.
I wasn’t so angry anymore. I knew that even if Ford and Fidds weren’t in a relationship behind my back, Ford was still a good friend, and no doubt cutting him off would upset Fiddleford immensely.
So, I kept him around. Invited him out with Fidds and I, spending time with him one on one to get to know him, and having him over for dinner a lot.
Well, that turned into one night when the three of us decided to stay at the dorms during winter break. We passed all our exams, and wanted to celebrate with some good booze. Soon, all three of us were plastered, and one thing lead to another…
When we woke up the next mornin, heads poundin and stomachs churnin, we realized what had happened. But… instead of freakin out or somethin crazy, we just laughed. We laughed and laughed for what felt like hours.
The three of us sittin there with our terrible hangovers just felt… right. The three of us talked… for a long time.”
“By the time we were done chattin, we had decided that we would try out a relationship. Course, we ain’t know the term then, so we were very awkward the first few months. But soon enough everything clicked into place, less tension, more confidence. We felt safe together. And well, we’ve been together ever since. Only Emma and I are married legally, but that doesn’t stop us from still considerin Stanford our husband by any means.
We’re happy, all together like this. That’s all that really matters, ain’t it?”
To the awesome poly trio: Do any others know about your three’s relationship? I know the Corduroys have been mentioned, and I’m pretty sure close family, but no one else. Have an amazing day! ^^
“Aha! Well…. About that!”
“The Corduroys are the only people that we told directly. Some folks might’ve heard it around town, but they’ve either chosen not to judge or judge real quiet like. Don’t matter to us none! Mine and Emma’s families don’t even know Stanford lives here with us.”
“Yeah, we haven’t told our families anythin… We grew up with very religious families. I’m sure y’all could imagine what they would think of our relationship. To us, it’s a lovin, consensual relationship! To them? We’re burnin in hell… So we chose to keep to ourselves about Stanford. Which also means we ain’t told anyone about our boys…”
“My Ma and Pa think I live alone. They haven’t ever visited, so they haven’t seen my partners or my children. I… Would like to tell Shermie one day… I am not sure how to approach the situation, as I haven’t met face-to-face with him in quite some time. We call occasionally. He knows I have children, he just doesn’t know who with. I don’t know how open minded he is about polygamy, or homosexuality…”
how does the polycule usually sleep? Any clingers or blanket hogs?
“Em hogs all the blankets and wraps herself up into a lil burrito… but that’s okay. Ford’s practically a living oven, so he keeps me warm. Added bonus, he loves to cuddle! Don’t tell him I said that.”
not really an ask, i was just wondering if we could see random fluff moments with the polycule and ir family?
Absolutely! Here’s Fidds and Tate nappin opossum style, Oliver copying Ford’s polydactyl hands (Ford really wishes he wouldn’t, but doesnt have the heart to tell him no), and Emma drawing pictures with Arthur! (He’s standing on a stool, he is not that tall- not yet at least!)
(and dw, plenty of polycule fluff ahead! im a sucker for a loving and healthy relationship…)
HIII EMMA MAY. BEAUTIFUL LADY !!!! Emma May tell me a fun fact u are very pretty
“Be careful with those praise, honey! My husbands might hear ya! Now, as for your little fun fact… Ah! I’ve got one! Did you know, we actually know the coloration of some dinosaurs? There are microscopic evidence of their color hidden inside some soft-tissue fossils! The Microraptor, for example, had iridescent black feathers, similar to a crow! Pretty neat, huh?”
hiiii everybody!
emma May, I was wondering if your position as a paleontologist makes you interested in Stanfords Saber DNA? Also what kind of work do you get in gravity falls? Have you… found anything under any abandoned churches?? (Weird question I know)
(I can’t wait to see where this au goes!!!)
“Howdy! Good to meet y’all!
To answer yer first question, YES! Not only do I major in paleontology, but biology as well! It makes me real curious as to how Stanford’s and his brother’s genes split the way they did, when Sherman looks like a perfect hybrid! I would love to study it, but to do that I’d need Ford’s twin here as well and uh… well nevermind that!”
“To answer yer second question, I moved here with my husbands as a biologist! I would study the critters round here at a DNA level. Not to mention any other critter round here that ain’t a crazy monster seems to be just weird! But all that changed when Stanford and Fiddleford burst through our front door with a bone they dug up while building the bunker! I did indeed study it, and confirm it truly is a genuine dinosaur fossil! Then I became the town’s local paleontologist! Now I work on how dinosaurs would adapt to today’s age, and if it would be possible to bring em back! And I ain’t seen any abandoned churches, but now my interest is peaked! I rambled too much now, sorry hun!”
